I guess that right there is why people like NASCAR and that’s sad. Drivers days ruined by stupid pack racing.

Pot, kettle and black. IndyCar had no problem glorifying pack racing until this time last year.

Let's see: First it's not IndyCar that speaks here, second Graham Rahal was never a fan of pack racing and third IndyCar proved this year that you can have great races on superspeedways without having cars goint 4-wide for 5 rows.

The chase should represent all types of tracks that they race on in the "regular season". Talladega or Daytona have their place in there.

If Tony Stewart had pulled that idiot move and turned down on Michael Waltrip, they may have made it back around to the line, and we would have all been talking about how this was the greatest finish in NASCAR history.

He is a representative of IndyCar and he is criticising the whole of NASCAR's fanbase for liking this sort of racing. Whether it is his personal opinion or not is irrelevant. IndyCar also has the advantage of not having restrictions on the air intake on the faster tracks. I would hate to see the sort of racing that came as a result of using restrictor plates on their cars.

Finally, this accident did not happen because of pack racing. It may have meant that the whole field ended up being wiped out but the contact that triggered the accident could've happened under any racing conditions. It was one car with a run being blocked too late by a car in front. Had Smoke timed it better, I strongly believe that they would have all made it to the line.

Yeah, I know he's mad and I don't care. I do not care. I did not care then. I do not care now. I'm here to race him.

Plate racing embarrasses me to be a NASCAR fan. This shit should atleast be kept out of the Chase to make it a legitimate championship.

A legitimate championship shouldn't even have a Race to the Chase for the Quest for the Cup for the Thing anyway.

I think as long as they're going to run 4 plate races, one should be in the Chase. And if they're going to add a road course (which they should) then it should also slot into the chase.

A real championship counts all races not just a few at the end

If there was no Chase this championship would have 3 drivers 2 points apart with 6 races to go, Biffle and Brad tied, Jimmie 2 back. What an epic finish that could have been.

I used to love coming into the Dega threads.... now everyone just bitches like spoiled 16 year old girls who got handed a Lexus instead of a BMW.

It was an exciting race, exciting finish. Stewart fucked up and destroyed the field. If they make it back, everyone would be screaming how epic it was.

Maybe we're just tired of plate races ending with a wreck? Yes, it would have been epic if they had made it too the line without wrecking, but now it was a clusterfuck.

Well, the fans bitch about the two-car tango making plate races boring, despite the three-abrest photo finishes.

In return, they get their precious pack racing back, along with the race-ending clusterfuck that comes with it.

You can't have it all....

People also forget that it'll probably evolve a little more next year with the new cars. A lot has to do with the track. Before the pave job, there were many bumps so cars couldn't run as close. You would have never seen 4x4 four rows deep on the old pavement.

Lol I find it funny Dale Jr is bitching about this, I mean he was the one that said he was happy that pack was being brought back. Also, I think we have a lot of new fans or something because "the big one", wrecks on the last lap has been a part of Talladega for ever. I just find it funny that everyone has a problem with it now lol Nascar fans cries about everything. People bitch about the 2 car draft, Nascar change it and now people bitching about pack racing being back. Funny stuff. Like what Kevin Harvick said on twitter

I think Jr branding anyone who likes pack racing "bloodthirsty" is pretty damn unfair. I love pack racing, and I make no bones about that. I wouldn't want to watch it every weekend, but 4 times a year it's an exciting, unique spectacle. I don't tune in hoping that I'll see a few limbs sliding down the banking - I tune in because there's no other place you can see this many cars running so quick and so close together. Yeah a lot of luck comes into it, but the who hell cares? Luck is a major aspect of all motorsport. If Jr got caught up in someone else's wreck in Michigan, I doubt he'd refuse to go back to Michigan.

Plus if Stewart hadn't chopped the fuck out of Mikey, I'm fairly sure they'd all have made it back to the line and everyone would be calling it the Greatest Finish Ever.
