#99 Mike Stefanik edged #6 Ronnie Silk by .003 seconds.

Shame it wont be aired, because that was out of 5, the best modified race Ive ever been too. Was in the pits/garage area for it and watched the second half from turn 3, where Timmy Hill, Josh Richards, and even Brian Deegan came over to see bits of the race at  Didnt even know that Stefanik won until my friend who was working in the scoring booth told me!

*Traditional bitching about NASCAR, Goodyear, adverts and TNT post*

Copy+Paste for the rest of the season (Except Dega and Watkins Glen)

Oh the glen... I do have something to look forward to.

On that subject, NASCAR needs to realize road courses are awesome for them. They can't be that stupid to know they have some of their best racing there. They're like the modern day short track.

Two reasons why they won't: NASCAR's more towards the ovals (that being said, they should have more roadies, flat, short, and unique ovals) and the fans would riot as soon as they see even 25% of the schedule that has left and right turns.

Then again, if said left and right turns replaces the likes of Kentucky, Kansas, Chicagoland, Texas, and Fontana, they probably wouldn't complain about it.

For what it's worth, the whining about TV coverage is old. Sure, we have lots of commercials, and the commentary needs work, but we can watch the races live from start to finish. We don't have to wait a week for the race to be aired on some sports highlight show, and the race isn't being aired with some other sport in different segments. I'd hate to imagine how some of you whiny bastards with your sense of entitlement would have handled the old days. And no, you wouldn't be all over yourselves with how great the racing was, you'd be crying that NBC Sportsworld is showing weightlifting rather than green flag pit stops. We don't have to worry about that today, so be grateful.

I understand your point but they throw at us, constantly, about how revolutionary their coverage is but all we see are ads. When a big name former indycar driver makes mention of it and its a topic week in and week out, you know its gone over the top.

Anyone here knows I give benefit of the doubt in situations but this is too much. With todays TV package and media coverage its just simply unacceptable. This is not 1980.

Chris, that was hardly pointed at you, and I see what you're saying, too, and the coverage is hardly revolutionary. But at least we get to see the racing from start to finish. Even if they could improve it some way or another.

I agree. And Joey I'm not directing this at you, just making a point. We are far above of where we were. I guess its just frustrating in the fact that NASCAR and a TV station wants an audience but overwhelmes them with ads. Yes the race may be boring but, personally, my gf and I chose to stay in today and watch the race but all we saw were ads. She's more of a casual fan than me, obviously, but that's proof right there. She fell asleep. And that was her complaint.. if they want a following and want to grow, this hurts that.

I've always been a NASCAR guy, and I've been a part of this forum since Jan 05, but lately I've notice I've been checking out the Indycar forum more and more. I hate that. NASCAR has been my life since I learned I had a family member that raced in grand national.

Perhaps NASCAR should take a page from the NFL and dictate the number of required commercial breaks and when they should occur.

Giving the networks a minimum required number of green-flag laps for each track before being allowed to go to break could be a feasable start. Like, air 13-14 green-flag laps at superspeedways instead of 6-7, or 15-16 laps at mile-and-a-half tracks instead of 9-10.

I wonder if something like F1's DRS or the push to pass in IndyCar would help the racing over here. I really doubt NASCAR would even look into it though.

With the budgets teams inflict on themselves or are forced to have, the declining number of sponsors and empty seats, complaining about the tv coverage isn't getting old at all.

If we don't have tv coverage that accurately covers the sport (or at the bare minimum is watchable), then we won't have anything in a short period of time.

The bitching about TV coverage is old. No argument. But hat is he crappy TV coverage (networks) fault, not ours. If the TV coverage was better there would be less bitching. Don't blame the bitching...blame what causes it.

I'd probably bitch about ads more if there was something worth watching behind them.

The argument that we should just be content with having live race coverage (instead of being disappointed by what we do have) is completely irrelevant at this point in time. It might have held water in the early days of live broadcasts, but we've had good race coverage from numerous networks (including TNT until this season) for over two decades now without many exceptions. Quite simply, there's no good excuse for not providing decent race coverage, given the resources TNT has.

It's all about the tires. Goodyear has put a huge effort into making tires that perform well for extended periods of running. Which is impressive from a technical and practical standpoint, but its effect on the racing has been hugely detrimental.
