Saturday night felt like one of my online racing league events at Daytona or Talladega. Our admins decided it was just as well to use "Re-vamped" versions of the tracks instead of BR ones, and the high line never really worked on them. If you started on the pole, stayed on the bottom line the whole night, and didn't lose any positions during pit stops (and didn't get wrecked), the race was yours.

Awfully boring races to be in, too. Like Dale Jr. said, if he could have gotten up there to lead laps, he would have.

Not sure if they'll have to look at the rules regarding pop-off valves, or what, but I knew going into tonight that the race would suck until about 30 to go. I think we were lucky to have some good pack racing in the back, but that was pretty much it.

I know I'm in the minority here, but bring back tandems. 70-80 lead changes are much better than Buzzkill Brothers Roush Brigade leading the whole damn race.

edit: Even if it was Harvick and a partner leading the whole race, I wouldn't like what I saw the other night. The amount of lead changes brought about with tandems was much better.

Yeah they've gone too far with the rules, the valve needs to be adjusted based on the temps, surely they must have enough data by now to set it so they can tandem for 1 or 2 laps at a time, oh and stick a blade on the roof so the draft can actually be an advantage rather than a hindrance.

your admins are using the wrong tracks, we had 23 lead changes (unofficially it was somewhere up near 80) in 100 laps last time (23 drivers).

I honestly don't know why they won't go back to the 2000-2001 aero package...that was perfect.

IMO, because that's the aero package they were using when Dale Sr. was killed. It seems like they've tried to distance themselves from that time period.

That was a racing incident. It had nothing to do with the aero package.

Matter of fact, it had more to do with the actual safety on the cars (and track) than the package.

Putting the wicker fin thing on the current Sprint cup cars could be interesting. They already punch a decent sized hole in the air. I really don't know what it'd do, but I figure that it'd make for some crazy racing.

Don't think it'll make a difference with the tandems. Tandems are happening now because Daytona and Talladega have lost all their bumps to the point you can push in the corners, and cooling has gotten where they don't need clean air on the nose. Wicker fins and old aero packages won't change that.

Not sure what tracks they're using now, but I'm not really in the league anymore. My PC is busted, and if I do sim racing again, I'm gonna do it RIGHT with iRacing. :)

Actually the the wicker or anything else that adds drag to the cars would only serve to make tandem drafting even easier and more prominent.

Add the wicker, the tweak the rear and front bumpers so they can lift each other's back wheels off the ground again.

That would make things interesting, go back to only being able to bump on the straights.

Yes sir. Even better than the tandems.

Can't they just tell the drivers not to bumpdraft in the corners?

And let laps 200, 160 and 188 be an "anything goes" scenario.

Watch the 2009 Amp energy 500 to see how well telling them not to bump in the corners worked.

I thought it was just the turns, so they were trying to get as much as they could on the straights, which led to really hard bumping and some very large crashes.

That's what I remember, though. That said, I do have a lousy memory.

It was just the turns, and the drivers were very annoyed that NASCAR was interfering the way they did. So they rode around the top for 180 laps in protest.

Then Newman went flying. And on the final restart they showed what could've been and in the process started a game of katamari in the tri-oval.

Yeah, I know he's mad and I don't care. I do not care. I did not care then. I do not care now. I'm here to race him.
