NASCAR returns to Kentucky for a Saturday night race. Hopefully the race is more exciting than last years event. Given the poor quality of races this season its not likely.

I love the fact that in the ads theyve been showing for this with Darrell Waltrip theyve had to use the footage is almost entirely of wrecks and racing from other tracks to make this look even the slightest bit exiting, considering nothing happened in the inaugural race at all

Apart from America's worst recorded traffic jam for a sporting event.

Now that I remember it, that makes postgame traffic from the Staples Center look rather bearable in comparison.

I liked Kentucky before they added the Cup race.

People around here have asked me if I'm going up there this weekend. I just laughed at them and told them "Hell no". No interest in going or sitting in traffic all day.

There aren't any other major races to watch this weekend apart from MotoGP and NASCAR

The only thing I remember about last year is the traffic jam.

I wish they were running another road course

I saw the entry lists for this weekend's races. I was surprised to see 43 trucks entered for the truck race. A lot of part-time teams like the #02, #14, #19, #75, and #92 are all entered. Also, Kyle Larson is going to make his series debut driving the #4 Turner Motorsports truck.

A shame this place didn't get Atlanta'd by the tornado outbreak at the start of March.

Still, the truck race was full of action last year, might be worth watching.

Still seems weird that this place has a cup race. Just always felt like one of those busch tracks like nashville superspeedway or something. I will be out of town this weekend and unable to see the race, therefore, it will be epic.

Still remember how dull last year's race was. The cars and tires this season are still horrendously unfriendly to this type of track so not really expecting anything different.

Good thing I'm going to the Mariners/Red Sox game in Seattle on Saturday. Should be able to catch the Truck race, though, since I won't be leaving for Seattle until Friday afternoon.

It's fun to see all the NASCAR stuff popping up this week. Saw a Denny Hamlin show-car rig parked at a hotel near my office today, and tomorrow NAPA is hosting a private event at the indoor karting center I have a membership at. Apparently Truex will be there turning some laps. If he can't beat my 25.316 (not a great lap), I want a contract.

I know this doesn't mean shit to anyone else but I'm just trying to find my own glimmer of fun in this downer of a thread.

Depends on your definition of "Major" but Motors TV have a full schedule on Sunday of Live racing, culminating in Grand-Am from Watkins Glen in the evening.

World Series By Renault is in action too...

Not much, but better than nothing.

Feel sorry for whoever's going up to the track this weekend, from Thursday through Sunday, the high temperatures for the day will be over 100*F. I know the races are held in the evening, but it won't cool down that much that quickly.
