How was that near fatal ? He wasn't seriously hurt IIRC.

Yeah, he had some spinal injuries but I wouldn't have called it "near fatal." The point is understood though. This series has managed to take what should be two car wrecks and make them massive pile ups. I'd hate to see two less experienced drivers try to hook up and have it go wrong as they got to the front of a big pack.

They are going to create a .4 mile flat oval at Daytona, and will run what is basically the Toyota All Star Showdown at Speedweeks next season.

If that isn't a big 'Fuck you' to New Smyrna Speedweeks, I'm not sure what is. Then again, they'd only be possibly losing the Whelen/SK mods, which don't draw worth a shit at NSS anyway.

I like the idea, but I'm not a fan of the flat banking ala Bowman-Grey.

Go to Volusia County. First race was last night and they'll be racing every night until Feb. 25th.

I think NASCAR is doing that on purpose as a screw you to all the local tracks in the area since none of them are NASCAR sanctioned, and NASCAR can't stand seeing non NASCAR associated racing entities succeed.

Regardless, a flat 4/10 oval marked only by jersey barriers sounds pretty boring to me. They might as well just hold the race in the parking lot.

When Bobby Gerhart is leading at Daytona, it's just crash porn. But if he's not, then it really is an intriguing race for the most part.

If they're going to build another track anywhere they should put it where the dog track used to be outside the second short chute. It's just a big empty lot now anyways.

Seems there's a 40-60% chance of rain this weekend, peaking on Friday and Sunday.

Does anyone actually watch ARCA at Daytona for "racing" purposes or is is really just crash porn? Whenever I've watched it I feel a bit dirty knowing full well that in 5 minutes I'm going to watch a few thousand dollars barrel-rolling in front of me, lol.

When some of the people in the race are your friends....yes.

Last year they released it on Thursday around 3-4pm. Likewise we probably won't see a Nationwide and Truck list until around that time next Wednesday. They seem to always wait until a day before cars hit the track for the season openers.
