I think I made the right choice in going to bed.

Yeah, I know he's mad and I don't care. I do not care. I did not care then. I do not care now. I'm here to race him.

Kind of glad I recorded it last night and fast forwarded most of it this morning. It wasn't awful, just a real let down at the finish.

I just dont understand how we got the finish we did. It seemed all speedweeks if two drivers wanted to do a tandem they could but the outside line was just non-existent. No one could seem to go anywhere even with 20-15-10 to go.

^ which means it's down from last year, slighty up from 2010.

I've had a considerable amount of time to cool down from last night's rather dull finish (and two Amp Energy drinks in the span of a couple hours), and instead of letting the 500 finish bug the crap out of me, I'll keep focusing on the positives.

-Danica wrecked early, and though I don't mind her as a driver, we were spared the Danica-Danica-Danica-ness of the coverage.
-Though we still got it, to an extent, at least it was hilarious; DW stating "OMG they're learning from Danica cuz she's awesome" and "Danica learning lots at the back of the pack, 60 laps down)
-Everyone was OK in the jet dryer incident, and we were able to get a green flag finish after such a tormenting weekend (though a Dave Blaney win would have been EPIC)
-Though he is probably my second most-hated driver, I'll give Matt Kenseth this; he didn't mope around the pack all night long and fluke out like he did in 2009. Rain-outs are pretty forgettable finishes, and I'd rank 2009 a hell of a lot more of a bummer than this one... in any case, Matt earned this one, as much as the Biff messed it up for everyone, but I can accept that. :)

Still, so damn anti-climatic. lol

Oh well. It was a wild Speedweeks, and we're now on to some more fun tracks. Time to see what teams *really* have what it takes to win this year.

I thought this race was good. Certainly not special in terms of racing quality, but not as bad as many claim it to be. Of course Montoya's incident added a massive WTF factor.

Here in Germany the whole race was shown without any commercial breaks and good commentators. Hey, they even answered my question on TV :p

I think they tweaked the rules slightly too much on the pressure relief valve, I'd expect an adjustment to 30 or 33psi for Talladega, it seemed some cars were overheating just by running in the pack and were simply unable to tandem even if they wanted to because as soon as they got close, they started overheating.

I dunno, they set the cooling of the cars up to run in the day, maybe that played a factor too.

Biffle and his lead heavy left foot didn't help.

It was extremely frustrating to watch because the racing was almost like what we've gotten from ARCA.

Overall, it was not a bad race at all. I could careless about the winner, but I'm pleased the race was far better than last years shit.

Also, I for one really hope NASCAR do nothing with the rules. Let the guys get used to this new package and get more than one or two races under their belts to really see how the changes effect things before fucking with it. The outside line was there if the right couple of cars got hooked up. Talladega will tell us more than Daytona.

14.2 overall rating (between 8-10) is nothing to sneeze about. It will go up a couple more tenths once all the regions are figured in. I'm very surprised. 18-49 demo was an impressive 4.5. It put a dent in some of the TV shows.

Thats why House wasn't aired last night.

Overall, the race was not too bad, we wanted pack racing and we kinda got it. Not trying to bring back the argument about two car tangos but you had to admit they would always create good finishes, either there would be multiple sets of two cars across the line (Talladega spring last year) or two cars would would duel it out (Talladega fall last year) or a big crash (NNW race). The finish was disappointing, but I can live with it. The JPM wreck was the most ridiculous thing I've ever seen. Just when you'd thought you'd seen it all, that's why I love racing. Overall that was a solid speedweeks, plenty of WTF moments.

Two car tandem, three wide finishes (like the one at Talladega) felt just as empty to me as anything that happened last night.

I think this race had a better finish

The Daytona 500, called "America's Race," was supposed to start Sunday, but it finished early Tuesday morning and was marked by rain and a crash that caused a truck filled with 200 gallons of jet fuel to explode into a fiery ball that seemed more appropriate for an action movie or video game. Nevertheless, it earned Fox television its highest rating ever for the race.
For the first time in the race's 54-year history, rain postponed the start, from Sunday's 10 a.m. PT to 9 a.m. PT Monday. Rain delayed the Monday start until 1 p.m. PT.

By the time the race ended at after midnight in Daytona 36.5 million people had seen portions of it, a 22% increase over a year ago. The viewership was the highest for any Daytona since the 2006 race on NBC drew 37 million viewers.

Fox won the night for total viewers and among ages 18 to 49, a significant achievement considering it went up against original episodes of "The Bachelor"on ABC, "How I Met Your Mother" on CBS and"The Voice" on NBC. The Daytona 500 posted a 4.6 rating and averaged 14.1 million viewers from 8 to 11 p.m. ET, making it Fox's most-watched Monday night in 16 months, when it aired Game 5 of the 2010 World Series.

These speedweeks were absolutely EPIC! We had it all: massive wrecks: check, airbornez: check, flipps: check, car cartwheels: check, amazing racing: check, the big one: check, photo finish: check, fiery inferno: check. These speedweeks had it all! I still can't believe how amazing all the races really were, lots of WTF moments and just when you think you saw it all, something even crazier happened! ARCA was the tamest race of them all??! :8:

NASCAR seems to get crazier and crazier @ RP tracks, can't wait for Talladega! :flag:

Race was not very good, it was long and crazy with lots of crashes and that big explosion (how did the camera's miss that one?? seems no camera is actively filming anything during a commercial break when it's caution).

Enjoyed the Nationwide and Bud Shootout much more.

Very bad race. Worst restrictor plate race I've ever seen I think. I did actually prefer two-car tandem over this type of racing. Wasn't it the exact same thing in 1999-2000? No one could do anything at all! Greg Biffle is an awful driver. Has Boris Said visited him yet? It's about time he does that.

Don't know if this was posted here already, but this one makes it very clear Tony or Elliott was going to win the NW race. Listen to Tony's reaction right after he crosses the line

Still haven't gotten over the finish. 37 hours wasted just to see Greg Biffle pussy out and ruin the possibility of having at least a half-decent finish to what has been a bizarre and lengthy Speedweeks. What a piece of shit.
