They were talking in NASCAR Race Hub about the possibility of NASCAR handing out a shorter spoiler for the weekend, that might make a difference in the handling of the cars when they hook up.

Also: Teams tested today with the plate from April, not the larger plate they will use tomorrow... So we still haven't seen if that will affect the tandems.

How about we take Bobby Allison's suggestion and get rid of the splitters?

That's really neat. Hoped they'd do the silent 77th lap too.

I was also hoping that, but I guess it's a bit less meaningful than the silent 3rd lap for Dale given Dan only ran the #77 once. His number for the Indy500 was 98.

NASCAR are doing a minutes silence, and the cars will be running Lionheart stickers.

That's true. #77 doesn't mean a whole lot as far as Dan's illustrious career goes.

With fuel injection in Cup next year, there wont be anymore restrictor plates. Im pretty darn sure of that. What NASCAR will do is just hand out regulated sized fuel injectors or program the cars computers to only allow a certain amount of fuel per cylindar. It really opens up NASCARs play book as to what they can do with the cars. So starting next year, the series will essentially be like IROC where every car will have around the same exact HP. They will just detune them for Daytona and Talladega which may actually spread the cars out. Also, they need to reduce the downforce at Daytona and Talladega and that would help alot I think as well.

This article seems to indicate that there will still be some room to play around in though.

Is that going to be raced, or is it for show?

Jayski has the #77 as having been taken off the entry list.

To answer my own question, T.J. Bell will attempt to qualify the #77 this weekend.

Yeah, I know he's mad and I don't care. I do not care. I did not care then. I do not care now. I'm here to race him.

Sorry to point this out, but I'm looking at the charts for the first truck session and it seems they are also doing tandem drafting now. Almost all of the top speeds are in tight and sometimes identical pairs. Damnit...

If that's true, I'm tempted to scrap my trip up there tomorrow morning. :x

And that destroyed the front of Newman's car!

Just looked at the truck times, and it looks like Hornaday and Wallace are the only 2 trucks who ran their fastest laps on the same lap. The other trucks have borderline identical lap times, though the times were run on different laps than eachother? :o

Those laps mean nothing though.

Bodine ran 50.406 on his 24th lap and Buescher ran 50.407 on his 35th lap but they were still ran at the same time.

Trucks were awesome at Daytona so it shouldn't be any different now? The only reason Waltrip and Sadler got way out front like that is because Michael lost half his spoiler.

I was looking forward to DEGA, but I'm not interested in watching tandem racing again. :(
