The 2011 nose has nothing to do with it. The theory is that it's been brought about by cooling system advances and the ultra-smooth resurfacing of Daytona and Talladega.

I don't like the 2 car draft but at least some of the lesser teams can still run up front here. Kvapil, Blaney and Smith in the top 3 plz.

Yeah definitely not the nose, Waltrip and Sadler did it at the end of the truck race and I remember someone hooking up with Frank Kimmel in the ARCA race at Talladega too and making it work. But like I said earlier, I'm wondering with the July temps being so much warmer if it would make any difference on how long they stay hooked up?

How much temp difference there is at Daytona on summer, at night, compared to the winter at noon, or with Talladega in the spring?

Any increase in heat will favor the Fords as they will be able to stay hooked up longer compared to Feb when cooling wasn't as big an issue across the board.

You know the 2 car draft is bad when Dale Jr.a great RP driver is looking more forward to freaking New Hampshire over Daytona.

Maybe they can stick the plates back on, make him feel at home.

Yeah, I know he's mad and I don't care. I do not care. I did not care then. I do not care now. I'm here to race him.

I bet taking the plates off at Daytona would fix the problem, just saying... Indycar does it in much more unsafe equipment and the drivers and fans don't mind it. I really don't see what the big deal would be.

I'm pretty sure that a Cup car without plates could do laps over 230 mph, maybe even reaching 250 on the straights so, no.

NASCAR's gonna get rid of the two-car draft now that they know Jr hates it.

Just watch.

Geoff Bodine and TBR plan on racing the full race. How awesome would it be if Blaney and freaking Geoff Bodine could hook up and somehow get 1,2, or some random team like Robby Gordon and JJ Yeley. Yeah probably wont happen but damn man, it would be cool. Practice today at 4 I believe?

Nationwide at 2:30 and 5:30 EST
Cup at 4 and 6:30 EST

3 or 4 years ago Kurt Busch went down to Talladega and test the car without a restrictor plate. If memory serves me, lap speeds were high 220's, but that's without a proper setup in the car. Kurt said that if they took the time to set it up correctly 235+ wouldn't be a problem, except for the fact the car was nearly uncontrollable.

Still, that's why they get paid the big bucks. Move all the fans out of the first deck of seating at Talladega and Daytona, take off the plates... And have at it boys.
