Is Iowa a track that the Cup should go to?

Yes.

thought so, its about time some short track comes in instead of another race at Kansas

should just make all the races at Kansas, Chicago, Kentucky, Vegas. 8 races at each in a rotation.

There is also a Nascar K&N West/East series combination race at Iowa this weekend.

I saw a stunt guy do this once. Then he somehow managed to change one of the front tyres whilst the car was doing donuts (with nobody in the car).

No coverage unless it's on a local channel in Jersey, which I think they have done in the past. :(

I know highlights of the Toledo race were aired on a regional network (BCSN I believe).

Back on topic, Raikkonen is listed driving the #15 for Vision Aviation Racing (the former Billy Ballew team) but I'm positive the equipment's from KBM.

Is the grid for the Showdown picked at random? Or is there some kind of qualifying? I watch this every year and I can never remember. :p

Yes.

Also, I don't get why there has been little to no hype at all about his debut... Monty had more hype for his ARCA debut.

-Montoya was already well known to American audiences as an Indy 500 winner and CART champion.

-Montoya came over almost immediately from F1. Kimi has done 18 months in the WRC and his exposure has suffered as a result.

I think there's also the sense that Montoya was 'first', the first F1 driver in years to switch. If Kimi can do relatively well (top 5 or thereabouts) then people will start paying attention.

Yeah, I know he's mad and I don't care. I do not care. I did not care then. I do not care now. I'm here to race him.

"The Winston" Lol, you bitter NASCAR hipsters.

Anywho, I kinda hope Earnhardt will race his way in so we can see who the second most popular driver is among the Open crowd.

And another note...I am not sure if it's been mentioned here but I heard it confirmed yesterday morning on the NASCAR radio station that the Harvick/Busch probation is still effective for the All-Star race. Apparently on Sunday night there were several sources were reporting that it wouldn't apply but it turns out that's not the case. It'll still be interesting to see how they race one another in this no-points situation though.

Showdown qualifying is a standard two-lap procedure. All-Star qualifying is the one to watch; 3 laps with a mandatory 4-tire pitstop in between.

But "The Winston" sounds better than "Sprint All-Star Race XXVIII" or whatever roman numeral they're using.

Given the whole "Boys have at it" doctrine and NASCAR and SpeedTV's tendency to milk all the bullshit that goes on in the Winston, that's actually modestly surprising. And somewhat of a relief. Charlotte's not really a safe place to retaliate.

Honestly. Regardless of the history and tradition, "The Winston" is just a cool as hell name.
