It's even worse when former owner Bob Leavine also jumped into the hate train.

They conveniently forget Bubba's track record in Trucks and Xfinity, and his mediocre results in Cup is the result of being in a mediocre team in Richard Petty Motorsports.

Pretty fucked, but only if you use your head. They'll spin it into something along the lines of, "He completed the necessary diversity training and was completely cured of his racist evils" yada yada yada.

But, the smart fan can put two and two together and get four. They know that the best thing that ever happened to Kyle's career is saying what he said. Say some racist shit, get thrown out for a year, come back to a top flight team and blow away the competition.

OR...

NASCAR will contrive some way to prevent him from winning it. They can't do anything right now, but once the playoff's start, an inconvenient debris caution could be all that's required to boot him out of the championship fight.

I actually don't think it should/could be that bad. When he fucked up, his team and then NASCAR acted very quickly. He also put out an initial apology and then, from what I've read, went above and beyond NASCAR's diversity training requirements to reinstate himself, after which he issued an extended personal narrative on what he'd come to understand about the subject and that even the weird, non-personal context he used the n-word was still wildly disrespectful. And, as far as I recall, he never complained a bit about PC culture or being "cancelled" or any of that horseshit along the way.

As far as I can tell he experienced a pretty reasonable journey after his fuck up. Instead of being a reactionary twat, he sucked it up and learned from the experience. Even from my own sort of demanding/moody/angry leftist perspective, I feel like he's completely earned his way back to his current position. I think the fact that he's dominant all of a sudden is probably just a stroke of dumb luck on the timing of a top-notch ride becoming available right when he was reinstated.
