They've also run a high-downforce package at IMS in cup previously, which was a massive fail. So maybe the two will cancel eachother out and we'll have the expected boredom. |

The cars have gotten to a point due to the fact that they STILL have waaay too much downforce that they are running superspeedway speeds at tracks like Charlotte. So of coarse NASCAR thinks that one of the fixes to this is to put plates on the cars. Wow. How about take damn near all the downforce off and let them rely on mechanical grip and tire wear......IMO that would improve the racing. |

Get rid of the splitter, put the valence back on and put them on bias ply's. Cut the side skirts off the cars, hike the rear quarter past the fender back up, take that rear window rail off. |

This whole thing is a stupid gimmick to hide the flawed track, flawed cars and flawed tyres. Charlotte was repaved 12 years ago and is still absolutely rubbish. Doesn't bode well for the other repaves. |

This isn't on NASCAR specifically (but the broadcasters), but one thing I want to point out that annoys me about recent NASCAR races, particularly at superspeedways (Talladega more than Daytona but there too) is the bad camera angles. I'm not sure what's different precisely but I think in the past the camera angles would be further away and give more grand sweeping views of the cars and the race. Nowadays the cameras often zoom real close to the cars (like RIGHT ON THEM) and follow them and the effect is a reduced sense of speed and less ability to see how the cars are behaving compared to races in years past, even just a few years ago. It's possible I don't know what I'm talking about though or that this is an effect of higher resolution or something idk. |

I don't think you're that far off. Last year when FOX did their Player's Only thing they borrowed from NBA on TNT (NXS at Pocono), I've noticed that they used some incredibly bad camera angles/shots, especially at the end. We looked at a battle for the lead in the late going from a rear bumper camera for the duration of the Long Pond Straightaway, so no one could grasp at what's happening except those at the track, maybe. FOX, in general, sucks at covering races. When the Daytona 500 was in its late stages, and they had ads minutes within each other and longer than it felt like, at that point, I'm already tuned out of the season. I can't take their heinously bad race coverage anymore. |
