And then he went and won the race.

He had mild carbon monoxide poisoning from a damaged crush panel allowing fumes into the cockpit.

I read a quote today from Brad about this. Apparently his CO level was very high at the end of the Cup race (13), well above NASCAR's acceptable level (5) and that he was very close to being held out of the Nationwide race. He pretty much had to take oxygen for the entire gap between the two races to get his level down. During the broadcast they actually showed him still taking oxygen all the way up to the point he was being driven to his car on the grid.
