Seems like half the people who do the ARCA test in December don't even make a single start the next season. Wouldn't get too worried. I know Duno's made starts before, I bet she'll probably be back with Sheltra's team.

From reading this article and the timing charts, it seems the ARCA boys and girls are now tandem drafting.

Two-car tango in ARCA? That's a crock.

You guys are actually surprised they wouldn't at least try it? They already have at Talladega.

Yeah, I recall Frank Kimmel and another car trying it and actually making a pass to a front. Doesn't surprise me, but with the overall lack of experience of about half the field regarding plate racing in general, trying it could turn disastrous for them.
Kimmel is one of the ones who knew what they were doing obviously.

The very first ARCA race I had a pit pass to was the first Kentucky race in 2008 with Win-Tron Racing. The body of the car from that race has ended up in an interesting spot:

I read something about ARCA planning on running an event at Sebring back in the mid-90's. That would have been an interesting sight to see stock cars racing around Sebring.

It was around '96 or so.

TOLEDO, Ohio--The most diverse stock car racing series in the country, the ARCA Bondo/Mar-Hyde Supercar Series, will make its first ever appearance at one of the most storied road course venues in motorsports, Sebring Intl Raceway, on Sat. Oct. 26.

The Bondo/Mar-Hyde Series, run under the sanction of the Automobile Racing Club of America (ARCA), competes annually on oval tracks ranging in distance from 1/4 mile to 2.66 miles, on asphalt and dirt surfaces. The scheduling of the Sebring event adds the flavor of a race course with left-and-right-hand turns to the series schedule.

"Competing at Sebring is very important to ARCA, our sponsors and our race teams," said ARCA President Ron Drager. "Our desire was to add a road course to the schedule, and having the opportunity to compete at a facility with the tradition of Sebring is great."

The ARCA Bondo/Mar-Hyde Series, in existence since 1953, has sanctioned road course events at sites including Mid-Ohio Race Course, St. Louis Intl Raceway, Heartland Park Topeka and the Des Moines Grand Prix. Sebring Intl Raceway will be the lone road course on the 1996 ARCA Bondo/Mar-Hyde Series schedule.

ARCA Bondo/Mar-Hyde Series superspeedways races are annually sanctioned at Daytona Intl Speedway, Talladega Superspeedway, Atlanta Motor Speedway, Charlotte Motor Speedway, Pocono Intl Raceway and Michigan Intl Speedway. The remainder of the series schedule is comprised of paved short tracks in the midwest and mile dirt state fairgrounds ovals in Indiana and Illinois. The Sebring race will be the 25th and 26 events on the 1996 schedule.

Tim Steele of Coopersville Michigan is the point leader for the series, which features stock appearing steel bodied Fords, Chevrolets, Dodges, Buicks and Oldsmobiles weighing 3400 pounds and reaching speeds of 200 mph on superspeedways. The Sebring race will attract some 40 teams from approximately 20 different states as they compete for nearly $150,000 in posted awards and prize money.

Other top series drivers include Harris DeVane of Cuthbert Georgia, Bobby Bowsher of Springfield Ohio, Blaise Alexander of Montoursville Pennsylvania, Ed Dixon of Washington Missouri, Dill Whittymore of Seymour Indiana, Mark Thompson of Cartersville Georgia, and Perry Tripp of Frederickstown Missouri. Floridians active on the series include Dale Kreider of St. Petersburg, Craig Rubright of Safety Harbor, Wally Finney of Merritt Island, Rob Smith of Destin, Rick Heuser of Tallahassee, Danny Kelley of Deland, and Drew White of Inglis.

Activities on track will commerce with practice and pole qualifying on Thursday Oct. 24, additional practice and 2nd round qualifying on Friday Oct. 25 and the 300 kilometer race event on Saturday Oct. 26.

I think it would've been a 300km race. Not sure how many laps that turns out to be.

Great, that means that when there's the inevitable wreck near the front of the field the unfortunate spun car will get TWO cars Arca-braking into him instead of the usual one.

"ARCA brakes" will never go away. That is, unless the drivers learn not to plow into every wreck like it's a gay orgy.

The term "ARCA-brakes" sounds stupid.

It was mildly amusing the first year we used the term. It's massively annoying now.

Yeah, I think the term "ARCA brakes" has run its course.

Some full time drivers announced the past few days:

*Nelson Canache has signed to driver full time for Venturini Motorsports in the 35 car.
*Spencer Gallagher plans to run the full season for Clark-Diederich Racing.
*Alex Bowman is planning a full season with Cunningham, funding permitted.

They occasionally would get 2 cars going at Talladega in the spring, so I expect it more near the end of the race from the cars remaining.
