Im wondering if I should pay the money to rent a GoPro camera for my race tommorow. They have them at the track and spaces to put em on the helmets.

If anyone has any interest in following my race tonight, live updates should be on Lonestarspeedzone.com. On track driver intros start at 7 Central Standard time, 8 Eastern time. The race is shortly following that.

Finished dead last 6 laps down..Quite frankly the kart we got was terrible. We were bumped up to 11th after the team ahead of us got dq'ed for cussing out an official about having a bad kart too. That team only finished 9 seconds ahead of us.

I drove atleast 6 of the karts there...The kart I was given would not go when you hit the gas, throttle response was terrible. If there wasn't anybody pushing us we had no speed.

I was planning on going to Southside Speedway tonight when I went to bed last night, but I woke up this morning in terrible pain and had to go the hospital instead. I'm feeling much better now but it sucks to be sitting at home knowing there's a race I'm missing.

So I just found out today that Tim Russel, the late model driver who is pretty much dominating the new late model series here in Florida, actually made a few ARCA starts, one at Daytona in '06 where he drove for Andy Hillenburg and one at the race in Lakeland where I actually got an autographed hero card from him. He only got two top 10s in 5 starts in '06 and '07. Chicagoland and USA International.

I remember him having quite a crash at Daytona in 2007.

Had a good long weekend of racing, Friday I went to Can-Am, Saturday I was at Fonda, Sunday I was at Utica-Rome, and Monday I went to Rolling Wheels. Car counts were for the most part good, crowds were bigger than I have seen it in awhile everywhere I went. Fireworks at all shows, Empire Super Sprints (360 sprints) at Can-Am and Utica-Rome, car counts above 30 in the mods and sportsman at Fonda and Rolling Wheels, plenty of good racing, a few scary wrecks, just a great weekend. Only downside was getting home after 1 am every night, and my car was filthy and needed to be washed.

I was planning on taking it easy this coming weekend, but I forgot about a couple races that I wanted to see, so it looks like I'll be at Mohawk on Thursday, Can-Am on Friday, maybe Lebanon Valley on Saturday, and possibly Utica-Rome again on Sunday. One of the nicest things about living in New York is that it is over-saturated with awesome short tracks, I've already been to 9 different tracks this year, and there are plenty more to go to.

^^ Skip the Valley on Saturday night and go to Oswego for King of Wings III. This is the first of the big 3 races at Oswego and expectations are for 35+ Supers with the wings. With $5000 on the line this one is going to be good.

Yeah might do that instead and save the Valley for later in the summer, too many late nights lately, Oswego does a pretty good job of getting me home at a decent hour. Didn't get home until 2 am last night after going to Mohawk to see the 410 sprints, the show really drags when you only have two push trucks.

Langley Speedway has their biggest Late Model race of the year this weekend, the Hampton Heat 200 which pays $10,000 to win. Word is there should be a few out of town drivers coming. I saw Rodney Cook, Brandon Butler, Nick Smith, as well as Rick and Brandon Gdovic testing today. I've heard South Boston Speedway points leader Philip Morris may be there as well as Motor Mile Speedway points leader Lee Pulliam. Langley has a stacked field on a weekly basis so getting some of these big name drivers from other tracks should make for one heck of a race.

I was a little short on the car count for the King of Wings race with 31 cars signing into the pits. However, the action was fast and furious. Otto Sitterly, the 4-Time defending track champion time trialed fastest, within 0.2 seconds of the track record at 15.38. From there, the speeds just got nuts. The feature was run green to checker without a caution. That I think is the first time in the 19 years I've been going to Oswego that's happened, atleast it's the first I can remember. Tim Ice started on pole and was running away with it early, building a nearly 1/2 track lead. Mike Lichty started further back in the top 10 but had a car to compete with. He got through traffic to second and put the spurs to the Reed Salavage #8, running down Ice and taking the lead with about 15-20 laps to go. Lichty would lead the rest of the way uncontested while Ice finished 2nd with Timmy Jedrezek in a very fast Soule Racing #32, coming hard in the closing stages, ran out of laps and finished 3rd. The feature, 50 laps, was run in under 14 minutes at an average speed in excess of 135mph!

Winged Supers, when given the chance to stretch their legs, remind you of just how fast and just how good these drivers are. There were some close calls, but Saturday night was a prime example of some of the best short track racers in the country putting on an impreccable display of driving talent. I don't think any of the fans, and there were quite a few with a big crowd on hand, walked away disappointed.

Southside Speedway had their third race of the season this past Friday and while the car counts may have been kinda low there was still plenty of action. The first twin race for the Grand Stocks was fantastic with Austin Dodge and Donnie Newman battling fiercely for the win in the closing stages, Dodge managed hang on to pick up his first career Grand Stock win. The Late Models only had 12 cars, but they put on one heck of a show with Nick Smith passing four cars on the outside in two laps to take the lead, but he used up his tires in the process and after many laps of side by side racing Chris Dodson took the lead and went on to take the win.

Going to Auburndale tomorrow night. Watching tr00ks. Assuming it doesn't rain, which is in the forecast for the entire day.

The next late model race isn't until the first week in September where they are offering a $5000 grand prize to the winner of the race.
