Yeah, well, there's a reason the sport grew out of that. I understand where you're coming from, Sandeep, but stock car racing really could not have survived if it stayed that way.

I highly doubt that big sponsors would want to pour money into a driver when they act like an inbred hick. You think Lowe's, Shell, Mobil 1, UPS, or GoDaddy would want someone like that as the face of their company?

If I had the money, I'd buy the place, rip up the asphalt, and give it to Winston-Salem State (who plays football there - pretty good DII program) on the condition that under no circumstances should another auto racing event ever take place there. Ever.

You're right Joey but that's what I meant. Stock car racing had to become the way it is now for reasons not driven by the fans but corporate sponsors who care about their image only. But back when the sport's survival depended 100% on people showing up to the track, that's what sold tickets and BG is a throwback to that in its purest form.

I'm not at all familiar with short track racing, but that does seem like a surprisingly high degree of police presence O_o

Sponsors wouldn't want to put money into drivers acting like hicks..which is why im really holding myself back in the situation im in with the guy trying to wreck me at my local track. My sponsor is a multi-million dollar company (though this is a rather insignificant sponsor deal money wise) I am trying to keep them happy and not do anything stupid that makes fans upset or potential other sponsors.

Just trash. There is no reason why that place should still hold auto racing.

I think Bowman-Grey's issues are fixable. They need to do more to curb the rough driving and the retaliation. If somebody spins another driver on purpose, park them. If somebody retaliates, park them too. The officials are partly to blame because they've allowed things to get out of hand without doing enough to prevent it.

They did a whole series on A&E about how much of a festering hellhole that place is. Morbid as it sounds, it would probably take a tragedy to really change things around there.

Like, "Burt Myers pulling a shotgun out of his modified and going to town on the sunnuvabitch who punted him" tragic.

Apparently, the pit official waved him out. Surely, some miscommunication there because this is 100% preventable.

Assuming he did that intentionally (considering his hasty exit), that's the kind of shit that should get you banned from a track for life.

Even if he didn't, you should still have more sense than to come flying onto the track like that.

More fuel for the fire...

For a while I thought maybe Bowman Gray got a bad rap from that stupid TV show and all the videos online just show the crashes and skip any good racing that might be happening, but there are 3 facts to consider from the video above. 1) These two retards held their own demolition derby with $50,000 race cars, and it's not like they just hit each other once after the caution was out. 2) There's a ridiculous amount of police at that track, I've never been to a track that required that many police to be there every night. 3) The announcer doesn't at all seem surprised by what's happening, he just sound like it's another night at the track. If this happened at any other track both drivers would be banned for the rest of the season if not for life. Additionally the fans are just the shittiest excuse for "race" fans I've ever seen in my life, I'm not sure what's going on down in Winston Salem but I think evolution is trying to cycle back around.

I've never seen a short track with that many fans either so perhaps at least some of them are there just for crowd management or something.

I like how they don't release safety cars out of the pits. Lets send out the DANGER CAR instead

If I were a driver in the area, why would I want to race there? There are tracks with better reputations not far from Bowman Gray like Ace Speedway or Caraway Speedway.

The 02's spotter is doing a pretty heavy social media blitz...He had this gem to say to fans calling out the 02 on a Bowman Gray Facebook page.

"Hey u dumb fucks derek gives shit less about getting spun it's when the mf hit him after they spun but I'm not arguing with a bunch of dumb shits sitting in the stands lmao."
