quote-posted about Park Jefferson in the Sprint Car thread. Raceway Park (also in South Dakota) is racing on Sunday, and a track in Texas is hosting a street stock event as well. All slated for PPV

Brushcreek is slated to open up to competitors only w/ PPV races in a week or 2

on the flipside - Bowman Gray Stadium, Port Royal Speedway & Lincoln Speedway (PA) has suspended their entire season

other tracks is hosting open practices over the next few days, some others like Hickory has been allowing teams to rent out the tracks.

Phillip Morris is taking a break from competition to spend more time with his family, following the passing of his son.

Myrtle Beach is closing. This isn't a big surprise, as more developments + condos keep getting built around the track (mainly Carolina Forest) & track owner (the guy who runs the Petty/NASCAR Driving Experience) didn't see enough profit for his investment. It sucks though, because it was one of the more healthy venues in the Carolinas as a while with good car counts & promotion.

Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series about to end their 3 night stretch at Golden Isles with their A-feature. The race is live on Facebook (free broadcast) & LucasOilRacing.TV. The track is pretty tacky due to alot of rain earlier on.
https://www.facebook.com/lucasdirt/vide ... 1436281693

Stewart Friesen got the win in tonight's return to racing for the Short Track Super Series at Brasstown after a mid-race battle with Billy Pauch. They are back at Tri-County Racetrack in Brasstown, NC for a invitational race (due to local & state restrictions on mass gatherings) tomorrow night. They will move further south & east on Saturday with a open show at Cherokee Speedway in Gaffney, SC. The race at Cherokee will also feature Sportsman Modifieds & the "Run What Ya Brung" street stock class. Cherokee will open 50% of their grandstands to spectators. Dirt Track Digest will have the live PPV broadcast for both races.

World of Outlaws Morton Buildings Late Models will open up their return tomorrow at Jackson Motorplex with a no-spectator race. DIRTvision will have the broadcast, which will feature dueling broadcasts with the Sprint Cars also in action at Pevely.

Atomic Speedway was slated to host a no-spectator invitational race on Friday night without fans. However, this might have been delayed due to weather (Sprint Car race was delayed to Tuesday). DIRT on DIRT will have the broadcast.

Hickory will be racing once again on Saturday night featuring their weekly divisions. Josh Berry won the LMSC races last Saturday night in the JR Motorsports #88 car. Speed51 is slated to broadcast the no-spectator race on PPV

Bulls Gap is slated to open tonight with fans. However rain may be a factor in that one.

Kingsport is slated to open next Friday without the NASCAR sanctioning with fans.

They did. The A-main for the Crates finished up at 6:20 am Saturday morning.

A little Bowman Gray style action happened sometime during the night complete with flip under caution...

Lot of racetracks, and apparently a lot of people, are starting to have a no fucks given attitude toward not just the disease, but the government efforts to contain it. I always suspected a lot of people didn't like the way things work, but it's interesting to actually see their displeasure displayed.

For instance, a race track in northern PA was packed to the rafters Sunday night. 174 cars in the pits and standing room only. Social distance be damned. Track had no government approval to race, they just said fuck it.

I've seen 70 / 30 split with the tracks in terms of taking it seriously v. acting like it didn't exist - mainly on the act like it barely existed part.

ACE doesn't surprise me per-say, according to some friends that went - they had signs up / some cleaning stations but the fan base didn't follow most of the recommendations (like 5 people with a mask in the stands). But I'm willing to bet they still had more precautions than the 2 times I raced there (which had no EMT's on site - back when a dipshit owned the place - also not so fun fact that I had to learn in 2012, EMT's and safety isn't required on private property venues in most of the Carolinas if a limited # of people attend.).

Carolina, East Lincoln, Cherokee, 311, Fayetteville and a couple others opened to fans around here too. Dillon & Wake County had racing but not sure if it was w/ fans or not. Hickory and Millbridge has been doing PPV only shows.

most of the drivers aren't following guidelines unless it's NASCAR basically from the posts I've seen around the country (WoO started off good w/ following the guidelines they drew up with NASCAR but they've been a bit more looser lately on the Sprint Car side w/ their races this weekend at Pevely. Some drivers like Larson wore a mask in VL but others didn't per-say. The only time I've seen a driver wear a mask or refuse to take their helmet off for a TV interview in the no-spectator Lucas Oil LM shows this week was Tim McCreadie). Hickory & Florence had some fights between competitors / crews over the last 2 weeks

I know Kyle Busch made a comment on Twitter saying that he was happy that the tracks were reopening, but wished they / the sanctioning bodies (if in charge, which NASCAR isn't for weekly tracks still) would require masks to all attendees. Of course because most of the racing fanbase as a whole thinks it doesn't exist, they bashed him for it.

Penn Can?

I saw some photos from there & it looked extremely packed. Some of the fan comments on a local racing media guy's post about the track running had people making fun of the virus / acting like it didn't exist at all.

(side note: was considering a trip up there as the track is honoring a friend of my parents in July, then this pandemic happened which KO'ed that)

^ Yep, Penn Can.

Lincoln ran last night. Governor's office said they better not. Well, they went and did it anyway. Racing this Saturday night too.

Case that will likely decide the future of local racing in NC for the time being.
