Gatorade Duel

Races Length: 60 laps / 150 miles

Races Format:

- The two fastest qualifiers (the Daytona 500 pole winner and the outside pole winner) are awarded the pole positions for the two Duel races respectively.
- Cars at the Top-35 from the 2008 owners championship, are split among both races. Odd-numbered positions race at the first race, while the even-numbered race at the second. Same with cars outside the Top-35.
- Starting positions set by qualifying speeds.
- Top-35 cars are locked in the race. If a car outside the Top-35 qualifies in the front row, it'll also be locked into the race, despite his finishing position in the Duel.
- Most recent Sprint Cup champion entered not in the field will take the 43rd slot. #14 Tony Stewart (2005), #96 Bobby Labonte (2000) or #21 Bill Elliott (1988) are elegible to use this rule if it's neccesary.

When I locked the thread, I had set the title as "Speedweeks '09", not aware that the thread would be moved into the race thread archive.

Providing there be working streams, I will be joining in on the forum commentary during all the races, with a possible exception of the trucks due to classes. Can't wait till Saturday.

I've added the entry lists for the 500 (updated today) and the ARCA race (updated 1/30). Still no entry list of the NWS and CWTS in Jayski, at least.

I'll try to post some info of the TV times later today.

ARCA AIRBORNZZ!!1!1

I'm so stoked for this year's Speedweeks! Especially getting to see my all time hero Ricky Carmichael in action! I hope he does well.. And doesn't cause any Big Ones. I'll be at every on track activity/race this year except the Budweiser Shootout practices! Me and a buddy and a couple other friends are taking an RV. Should be a blast.

BTW nice job on the thread, really great.

Meanwhile over here Sky Sports are showing everything live, but since I only get Sky Sports 2 due to my wonky package, I can only see the 500 live. So I guess I'll be a stream whore for the next two weeks :(

Exciting times though, for me the season starts right here.
Well not here, in this post, but with the Bud Shootout.

Looks like I'll be missing the ARCA race and the Budweiser Shootout (out of town on Saturday), but will be able to catch everything else.

It should be a fun Speedweeks nonetheless. I wonder if any of the practices during the week are going to be televised.

Do you have a link to the schedule for Sky Sports? I looked at the schedule on the website and couldn't find anything. :o

EDIT: I found it, the Shootout is on Sky Sports Xtra.

Hmmm obviously too late now but I just went to the TV guide at www.five.tv and typed in "NASCAR" which gave me everything they're showing.

No repeats on Sky Sports 2 of the Gatorade races so I guess that's the only thing I won't be able to record, at least the Shootout is repeated on Sky Sports 2. Sky seem to have a "repeat everything on each channel once" policy so at least those on different packages have a chance to see all their sport, but not this time I guess :(
