Now they know how to protect the cars for the scenario of if someone floors it through pit lane at top speed and heads straight for the outside wall at DEGA, which, you know...happens loads :whistling:

NASCAR has recently filed multiple trademarks for the American Speed Association (ASA). Speculation has ranged from simply buying the intellectual property/tape library, all the way to reviving it for a potential all-electric series.

NASCAR quietly took ownership of ASA's intellectual property when the ASA member track program shut down in 2013/14. According to Michael McIntyre (commenting on nascarman's video); it is rumored that the TNN master tapes are currently stored at the NASCAR Hall of Fame - a reply to his comment claims that other folks grabbed the master tapes that were in ASA's Florida office. The TSN/CTV master tapes from the Canadian broadcasts are held by the Canadian Racing Hall of Fame & is uploaded on their YouTube

NASCAR let the prior trademarks (that were originally under ownership by Racing Speed Associates LLC of Florida) run out on the following dates
shortened wordmark #1 - December 2019
slogan #1 - July 2016
logo (ASA wordmark without racing text) - July 2016
slogan #2 - June 2020
shortened wordmark #2 - December 2019

NASCAR also filed a trademark for the former mid-2000's period logo on their own accord in July of 2016 and abandoned it in 2017
logo (ASA Racing) - May 2017

Racing Speed Associates retained ownership of this trademark however until it was abandoned.
full wordmark - July 2016

---

with the efforts of a national touring series being formed for Asphalt Super Late Models by 2 separate groups (CRA/Bob Sargent & Spire & Ricky Brooks/SRL) - I presume NASCAR is simply restarting the trademarks for legal reasons / deterrent from folks trying to use the name without their licensing or approval

NASCAR filed for a trademark on the ASA logo from the 1980's on April 26th

CRA & Anderson Speedway will be doing a ASA retro theme as apart of this year's Redbud 400

What is the relevance of this for those of us that don’t spend all their waking hours online?

Bozi & Brian both were one of the few within stock car racing that was tweeting out info / insight about technical bits with the new car & other things within the industry

have to wonder if Daytona Beach got triggered at all (between the All Star Race backlash, Hamlin's comments to SBJ/Jr's podcast etc.)

Here is why Clint Bowyer wasn't at Sonoma.

Sounds like a lady on drugs stepped out in front of the car he was driving on a highway. Camdenton is on the south side of the Lake of the Ozarks in south-central Missouri.

That sucks in so many levels. I feel for him.

A co-worker of mine once was involved in the death of a cyclist, the guy was an alcoholic and was drunk while riding, just fell in front of his car. But dealing with the whole investigation and actually knowing you killed him, really fucks you up.

Dropping Road America for a shitty street course would be a pretty bad move...but hey, that's on-brand for NASCAR these days!

Literally two ovals in the urban Chicago area went to the graveyard and they still want a race there? On a street track? Gimme a break.

It wouldn't be so bad if the circuit didn't look so uninteresting, if we're going by the iRacing collab they did last year.

The track is better driving through it, some good overtaking spots and changing track with, a hard turn to do very close to the wall... But please, not Road America.
