Eh, that doesn't look too bad on Kurts car.

for that place the number is too big, they should reduce the size like they do on touring cars

it doesn't look too bad, bud it def fucks with the iconography and look of the cars. it doesn't look bad, it just doesn't look like nascar. it's ok though, they'll make a shit ton of money on "retro" races and merch just to put the numbers back where they should be

It's not that bad, they simply picked the worst example to display the change.

Although Denny Hamlin says that the placement isn't final

Notes from the above poster, copied word for word:
Spoiler:
Some takeaways:
1) No full-time Cup drivers are registered Democrats. If that shocks you, I don't know how to tell you this, but you might be stupid.
2) some "not registered" drivers may be registered in other states.
3) Houff isn't listed because I didn't feel like zooming out.
4) A shockingly high number of drivers have phone numbers attached to their voter registration. No, I'm not giving you that info.
5) Newman and Keselowski, noted right-wing supporters are not registered. Newman attended the 2016 Tr*mp rally w/ NASCAR people, making it funnier
6) Suarez can't vote (not a US citizen) but does have a green card. Having received it in 2018, he could apply for citizenship in 2023.
Suarez previously detailed the process of getting a green card. Google it, you'll probably learn something.
I have some notes jotted down in a separate column (not posted - most are mundane).
Some highlights from that:
- Larson was NPA until July 2020 (prev. reg. removed for inactivity)
- Logano is inactive
Inactive = no voting for 8+ years & not responding to mailings from state
Lajoie's previous suspension from NASCAR and more recent comments on his podcast should mean that you aren't the least bit surprised that he's a Republican.
Brad K & Kyle Busch have a commonality - neither they or their wives are registered.

Can someone explain what NPA is, for us non-american ignorant swines?

not publicly available - likely means they're registered in another state

Oh.

I actually thought it was something like a extreme-right movement, haha.

I may begin to think that "NPA" means "no party affiliation," which could mean they won't disclose what party they're affiliated with, so in other words they would be considered an independent voter.

It should be noted that Daniel Suarez is not eligible to vote because he is not a U.S. citizen but is a mostly permanent U.S. resident.

yes that is correct - here in NC, you get either NPA/independent (or) the 2 major parties as options.

Don't get why people are so interested in a driver/crew members' political ideology tho. It should be their personal business unless they want to air it out themselves (either it be through media, sponsorships, endorsements etc.).

Couldn't agree more. While I have no problem with people being open about their political views, I know where I sit politically but would prefer to keep my views close to my chest.

My big question is WHY

WHY are we caring how they vote? Why did someone go to the trouble to tell us how we vote?

Why go to all that effort to prove something that we all knew anyway? There not being a democrat within 2 miles of a NASCAR track every time they roll into town is hardly surprising.

Also I'm surprised you can access anyone's voting record in the US, over here our voting record is private.
Weird to have someone trolling through it looking for secrets (you just know he was hoping for a driver to be Republican in the streets and Democrat on the ballot sheets and was ready to shame them for it and was disappointed)

In other news, water is wet

The voting record isn't detailed. It just says whether you voted or not.

I’ll be real honest, I’d rather this stuff stay private. Not because of the implications of finding out which way a driver leans but rather to save ourselves the embarrassment of one of these people speaking about politics. Rarely does a NASCAR driver past or present share an opinion on something outside of racing that doesn’t sound like they just got done sniffing glue behind the 7-11.

now only if the nascar execs didn't sniff glue, the direction of this genre of motorsport wouldn't being going down the gutter

Hey this nascar politics thing can be damaging, how can we divert from this?

THATS HAMLIN'S MUSIC

...yep

Although I'm casting doubt in this because
1. Never heard of her until now (then again, what Hamlin does in his private life shouldn't be our business)
2. this is a very serious (albeit cryptic) accusation without providing evidence...on top of that, this is only one side of the story
3. (and this is important) this conveniently drops just as NASCAR Playoffs is about to start.

Should also be noted that Denny has a Tinder and Bumble account, and he's getting matches on both dating apps at tracks.
