Surely the Daytona PCP will be used by Kurt, that doesn't sound like much of a plan for the 32.

Hendrick Power will make the race on speed.

Well, he may get caught in an accident during the duels. It's not all about speed in Daytona.

If you lock in on qualifying time then the duels are irrelevant for that point.

The 51 finished 30th in owner points last season, they're already locked in.

Supposed to air mid-February, near the Daytona 500.
There's a second guest star...

Your 2012 Rookie of the Year.....

Quote:
Ware joins forces with MaxQ: Rick Ware Racing and Poynt.com (free mobile app.) have finalized a deal to run Timmy Hill for the 2012 NASCAR Sprint Cup Rookie of the Year. "I am very excited to have our sponsor and driver make a move up to the Sprint Cup Series" says owner Rick Ware. RWR will run the full Sprint Cup schedule with sponsor Poynt on board. Mike Wallace will drive the 54th annual Daytona 500. Timmy Hill, the 2011 NASCAR Nationwide Rookie of the Year, will be at Daytona in his Poynt Nationwide Ford. Hill will start driving the #37 full time at Auto Club in March or Texas in April. RWR has joined forces with Larry Gunselman's Max Q Motorsports #37 for the full season. The Sprint Cup operation will run out of RWR's new 24,000 sq. ft. facility across the street from RWR's Nationwide and Rolex programs. Hill's crew chief will be veteran Bill Henderson. Ken Glen formerly of KHI will serve as Competition Director and Larry Gunselman will be General Manager of the #37 Poynt.com Ford.(Rick Ware Racing PR)(2-15-2012)

Motorsport Legend Timmy Hill

Nice to see an uncompetitive Nationwide team move up to Cup.

From the standpoint of the guaranteed ROTY win and the money they'll make in the races they qualify for (they would be at the track for the NNS anyway so it's not going to be too much of a stretch), I can see why they're doing it. The Poynt money might not be there next year and that would be Hill's chance gone. So all comments about the quality of the team/driver and so on aside, as a business decision (that's what NASCAR's really all about these days, isn't it?) it makes sense.

Shame that the ROTY is so utterly redundant these days though.

Bill Elliott to run for NEMCO Motorsports in Daytona 500: NEMCO Motorsports announced that Bill Elliott, past Sprint Cup Champion and Daytona 500 winner, will pilot the #97 Toyota for the Daytona 500 to be held at the Daytona International Speedway. This synergy will bring Front Row Joe, Joe Nemechek and Million Dollar Bill, Bill Elliott together as a powerful pair to kickoff the 2012 NASCAR season. "I am really excited to be racing with NEMCO Motorsports and Joe Nemechek, who has been a friend and respected competitor through the years," said Bill Elliott. "This will be a great way to start off the 2012 NASCAR season in Daytona."
"This is a great and fun moment in racing for us at NEMCO Motorsports," said Joe Nemechek. "We believe the talent and skill of Bill will steer the 97 car to a great showing for us and I am excited to be racing right along with him, this time on the same team."(NEMCO Motorsports)(2-15-2013)

Don't know what makes me more happy: Elliott driving or no dick pill sponsorship on that car...
