For some reason the 98 team decided to run split schedules between Grant and Christian for this season.

Some NASCAR team members had a delay on their way to Phoenix but everybody is OK.

Might be a big nothing burger, but I was watching the Door Bumper Clear clip uploaded a couple of hours ago Clearing the Air with Mike Joy. I got about halfway through and got up for lunch and was talking with my wife. I went back to my TV and it had been deleted and a new version was posted.

From out of left field... "NASCAR and iRacing will unveil a Chicago street course that runs through Grant Park and just north of Soldier Field for the eNASCAR iRacing Pro Invitational Series race on June 2 on FS1." It sounds like this is a testbed for a potential real life race. The track looks like a deathtrap however with the worst ever runoff areas in a couple of corners.

Im excited about the prospect of a street course but holy crow with how fast the layout is those square corners are a serious problem

i am batshit crazy so uh

if DA BEARS move to Arlington Park, then NASCAR should just run a race inside Solider Field like the old days

Doesn't really look like a particularly fast layout to me. Not sure what I'm missing.

I'll tell you this much, the city is fucking broke. Broke as a fucking joke. You think this city wants this? Absolutely not. Like it or not, there is also the stigma that comes with NASCAR and this city will not embrace this idea at all. Indycars? maybe? NASCAR lol no. They need to stop right now.

apparently NASCAR is also trying to get a race in Inglewood (LA) near SoFi Stadium as well from what I've heard. Also seems that Penske is trying to piggyback on whatever street race NASCAR gets going w/ a IndyCar date as well.

-

It's a good idea to try to get into these markets (despite the fact you already have tracks in Joilet (which attracts more cheeseheads than people from Chicagoland proper according to a friend from the area) and Fontana), but I don't see any of these happening

even on iRacing there's a big chance of someone losing the braking point and cause the clusterfuck of the clusterfucks that will, obviously, to make nascar go ahead and throw a street race

You guys ever watch that shitty shitty Southwest Tour race from that Los Angeles street/parking lot track?

Anyone after watching that shit say to themselves "I wish they did this again"?

Exactly.

Don't remind me...

That race was broadcasted on KNBC-4 using their sports anchors lmao (not sure if it's nationally televised, but I would imagine it was).

That double-hairpin sector where the LA Sports Arena was (now Banc of California Stadium) is pure cancer.

Can't complain about the run off areas if the run off areas don't exist. Classic NASCAR logic right there

(Surely they'd change it for real life though? There's no way even NASCAR would give that track the green light)

one of my friends made the layout for rFactor, it was actually kinda fun to bum around on

Change it from clockwise to counter clockwise and it solves the issue for the most part.

Rain tyres......for OVALS

https://www.autosport.com/nascar/news/n ... y/6027700/

We do wet oval racing in the UK TBF, it's not a disaster with the right tyres

Depending on the formula, it can either make the racing a hell of a lot better, or a roundy-round waste of time.

They have to consider it. The number of races postponed/delayed due to rain has simply been too much in recent years, and with the series' TV ratings tanking, networks are probably no longer as tolerant about having to air the race on a Monday or Tuesday when nobody's watching. Back when NASCAR was averaging ratings of 4 or 5 each season compared to now when anything over 1 is a good day.

Maybe it's just an extravagant April Fools joke.
