Ken Squier has Covid-19 but he's improving and doctors feel that he will beat it.

Corey LaJoie will run the #7 car for Spire

team has bought LFR's shop and some assets - which is the old Kulwicki shop behind Charlotte Motor Speedway. Team plans on running Hendrick & Ganassi equipment / engines

#7 number was picked for multiple reasons, as it was a family number for LaJoie, to keep tradition going with Tommy Baldwin Jr who is a close friend to the team & Spire's past connections to Bryan Clauson (owners were close friends)

Fontana cancelled for next year.

https://racer.com/2020/12/08/fontana-dr ... -schedule/

The rebuilding of the track has also been pushed back a year, so there should be one more race on the big oval in 2022.

Yeah, I know he's mad and I don't care. I do not care. I did not care then. I do not care now. I'm here to race him.

I wonder if Sonoma will be affected too since part of the reason is the pandemic

So Fontana doubled for the Daytona RC in "Ford Vs. Ferrari"...and now we have the Daytona Road Course standing in for Fontana in the real Cup schedule. I think we've almost come full circle?

How the fuck are Hendrick not pre-screening the social media activity of anyone they bring on at this point, into Larson's team especially?

That's my question as well. It should be left up to the company to screen such candidates for a job opening, not the peanut gallery otherwise known as social media after the fact.

nah, easier to pass it off as cancel culture, be mad online, and forget about this in a week.

Jim Utter on Twitter says that today is going to be an interesting day in NASCAR news. Wondering what it could be. Driver retirement?

And here's the first news story of the day.

Anthony Alfredo will run the 38 car for FRM, and David Ragan will make a one-off appearance in the Daytona 500 for the second straight year. Michael McDowell will remain in the 34 car.

That's a pretty big stretch of the word "interesting"

I'm guessing he's referring to the Pastaman news.

which is...quite underwhelming. Nothing against Anthony Alfredo, but he's not Cup material, even by midpack standards.

Utter was likely trying to spin hype after some parody account tweeted a rumor that Martin Truex Jr. was going to retire (which Pockrass confirmed as false info last night)

I'd guess other drivers might have postponed any pre-scheduled announcements in light of the madness of the US capital building being raided

There is one minor detail. Ferrari is not in NASCAR ;)

Practice and qualifying is going to be very limited this season.

Jayski wrote:
NASCAR competition officials have confirmed eight Cup Series races will be conducted with practice and qualifying in 2021.

A majority of NASCAR national series races last season were held without any on-track sessions after the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic in mid-March, a measure taken to streamline events and limit the disease’s spread. Officials identified eight Cup Series events for the upcoming season – a mix of high-profile races and events at new venues – for practice and qualifying to be held:

- Feb. 14: Daytona 500
- March 28: Bristol Motor Speedway dirt
- May 23: Circuit of the Americas
- May 30: Coca-Cola 600, Charlotte Motor Speedway
- June 20: Nashville Superspeedway
- July 4: Road America
- Aug. 15: Indianapolis Motor Speedway Road Course
- Nov. 7: Phoenix Raceway

Plans to potentially include practice and/or qualifying at NASCAR Xfinity Series or NASCAR Camping World Truck Series events will be determined at a later date, officials indicated.
