There's a rumor that the land where Homestead-Miami sits got sold off to a developer to transform it into a bunch of condos nobody's gonna buy because you know for damn sure they'll overprice it.

That rumor has since been shot down by the mayor of the town

A further update on the dumbassery I posted earlier:

Maybe they should take that 100k and I dunno... hire a legit driver that doesn't spin leaving pit road? Improve the shitbox truck(s) they have? Someone on Twitter pointed out that it sounds like the same person running two accounts. Probably is.

Jayski tweeted a statement from Miami-Dade County that the Homestead round scheduled for March 22nd is postponed "for now".

Apparently NASCAR itself will decide whether to run it or not.

Sounds like that decision is based on whether or not they want to run it without fans in attendance.

The tracks get far more revenue from TV than on-site fans, they probably don't even need fans tbh, sounds like someone in local government is panicking a tad, maybe they've had fifteen liberals from poop city tweeting them about how not cancelling the event has triggered them and they've made this announcement to shut them up.

How are they going to do that for Atlanta? There's a ton of fans on the grounds right now and a lot of fans in the surrounding areas.

Guessing they will call the police to send them out of there

I will not be surprised in the slightness if we have at least 14~ fans sneak in between Atlanta and St. Pete tho

Expect the next race weekend to be where the All-Star Race currently is slated, if that doesn't get postponed or moved to fill in for Atlanta, Homestead, Texas, Bristol, Richmond, Talladega & Martinsville

reports saying NASCAR will postpone or cancel all races for the next 8 weeks - goal is to restart season at Martinsville (guessing it will replace ASR weekend?)

Stern and others reporting the same.

First race back will be Martinsville on May 8-9 - which is still under the CDC recommended ban time period

No racing for two months is going to be crazy. Hopefully folks on YouTube start posting "new" old stuff.

if they come back it'll be a race bonanza. They still have the olympic gap and they can also do double headers on tracks that host 2 races in the season

Assuming it is not further delayed, it will be the first time since 1970 that cup has raced at Martinsville in May

Also looking at the updated calendar, I'm surprised they were able to squeeze everything together. The last scheduled race is Phoenix for Nov 8, whereas last season they finished at Homestead on Nov 17.'

edit: nevermind, it's not the full calendar. only 29 races lol, still have 6 others they need to reschedule?
