Additionally he's saying they are compressing Speedweeks down to just one week. So, Speedweek I guess.

It's only really a week and a day now I guess (Sat to a week Sunday after) so is he saying they'll just move all Sat track activities to the Sunday, and have the ARCA race back sharing the same day as the Clash?
(good luck if one is gonna be on the Road course)

Oh for the days of Goody's Dash, IROC and whatever else racing that meant you had a race on most actual days of Speedweeks and not just the Thurs-Sun

yes in terms NASCAR portion for Daytona - It's due to the NFL moving the Super Bowl date mainly (now on February 7th)

according to NASCAR release:
Tuesday night show for the Clash (old car)
Wednesday is practice / time trials
Thursday is qualifying races
Friday is Trucks
Saturday is ARCA & XFINITY
Sunday is Cup

overall in terms of Speedweeks as a whole (Daytona, plus the short tracks across in Florida) when counting the short tracks, it will be 2 to 3 1/2 weeks total

Best thing that can happen to a sport sometimes is a rating crisis and they finally falling off their egos to try better things. I've been wanting to see the stock cars race at Daytona RC ever since that IROC race there in 2008 iirc, this is great news. Just a shame for tradition. But for how long has the clash been a joke anyway? It feels like the racing there is bad ever since that big one that started the 2013 speedweeks. Either freight train or one big one after the other. No racing per se.

Yeah, they're still going to drive like assholes and knocking each other out of the way under the guise of "doing whatcha gotta do" but it will at least be safer now.

it might be interesting to take out the bus-stop chicane if they run the road course for the clash

Might be more interesting to leave the Bus Stop and remove the rest of the road course...

Yeah, but Charlotte's backstretch chicane was stupidly slow and shitty.

Daytona's would be fast... And shitty... And there would only be one so it'd be half as much shit as that Charlotte setup.

It wouldn't make sense (even by NASCAR's standards) to put one there, but I could definitely see them adding an extra turn or something down in that big paved area at the exit of oval T4.

*laughs in JJ Yeley, Danica Patrick, Daniel Suarez, and whatever supposedly good talent in good equipment that failed miserably*

Suarez did win an Xfinity title in good equipment, to be fair.
