It's an electric racecar, what other reasons are needed to hate it?

Only took NASCAR like 50 something years to stop using carburetors, I'm sure electric will be fine by 2075 or so.

*shrug* Just another means of propelling a vehicle, what's the big deal?

We had electric cars in the 1890s or so, it's only lost out due to heavy lobbying from the petrol brigade, otherwise it would've developed in tandem *shrug*

Reason 59786 of the "things people are pointlessly tribal about" list

is ok to have electric cars racing, as long the traditional gas engines hold on as the main show

just don't catch on fire because is a pain in the ass to put out

I'd like to see EVs or Hybrids running as a more stock division.

I'm guessing the races will be sprint races I like the idea of that

I wholeheartedly agree. She's seemingly turned hard-right since interviewing with Kirk and Carlson.

NASCAR expects races in Canada and Mexico next year

FEBRUARY 23, 2024 AT 8:04 AM
It seems more likely than not that the NASCAR Cup Series will feature races both in Canada and Mexico next season while also remaining in the coveted Southern California market in some capacity.

It’s expected that NASCAR will pursue taking the Clash to Mexico in 2025.

“I have nothing to announce today, but I would be surprised next year from the 2025 schedule if we didn’t go north of the border and we didn’t go south of the border,” [NASCAR President Steve] Phelps said.

He also anticipates the series remaining in Southern California in some capacity.

I think he mentioned on Dale Jr. Download recently that he was taking this year off. Would also explain why the DJD episodes are in full on YouTube now as well.

NASCAR race at Dodger Stadium?

MARCH 7, 2024 AT 8:29 AM
NASCAR Holdings has held discussions with the Dodgers about holding a NASCAR race at the historic Dodger Stadium in the coming years, according to people familiar with the matter, one of the options that’s been evaluated in Southern California. With the Fontana-based Auto Club Speedway now partially demolished and some believing NASCAR’s L.A. Coliseum experiment has run its course, the racing series has been evaluating other places to race in Southern California.

The chances of such a race happening for next year was unclear, as were the other viable options. But NASCAR President Steve Phelps told Fox Sports during Daytona 500 week that NASCAR would be racing next year in Southern California, raising expectations that the series will make its way to the market in 2025 at one venue or another. NASCAR and the Dodgers did not respond to requests for comment. It was also unclear whether the event would be a street-circuit style race around the venue or a short-track style temporary circuit built inside the ballpark. The Dolphins have set up such a street circuit around Hard Rock Stadium for the annual F1 race it now hosts.

Clearly they want nothing to do with Auto Club or they would've built the damn track by now. Nope, gotta cling to that precious stadium "prestige" and all.

Tear the rest of it down and let it die in peace.

So now they're heading towards stadium races and superspeedways it seems. Anything to generate more wrecks.

Rick Allen will only be NBC's lead until the Olympics are over, after which he will be replaced by Leigh Diffey.

Surprised that Rick Allen isn't going to be doing NASCAR events after the Olympics but Leigh Diffey is a good broadcaster, so the booth will be in good hands.

There seems to be speculation that Rick Allen could be heading to Amazon/TNT like Earnhardt.
