AJ Foyt was 58 and still ran the 500 every year with bad legs. Jimmie will be fine.

Bubba Wallace confirms he will not return to the 43 in 2021. Rumors seem to be most strongly pointing to him getting the 42 with Ganassi.

Also, it turns out NASCAR worked closely with iRacing to figure test out their idea to turn ACS into a short-track. Right now it sounds like they're going with 19-degree banking in the corners.

I think this is a shame tbh. I've always liked Fontana. I know people generally want more short tracks but it shouldn't come at the expense of one of the more unique tracks on the schedule. And of course this means no chance of any more Indycar :(

Lol unique shmunique. It was a Michigan clone. At this point, I'm so utterly fed up of high-speed dirty-air no-passing glorified testing session that is *every* 1.5+ oval that I don't care which one they butcher to get a short-track in.

Yeah, for NASCAR it's no loss and might even be an improvement

The Fontana races were always a big "meh" and so early in the year it really sucked all the momentum out of the early season after what was usually a fantastic race at Daytona

It hurts more as an Indycar fan but that's really based on the memories of some late 90s barnstormer races with the handford device.
Indycar atm can't find a large oval package that works, they veer between stupidly dangerous or ridiculously boring. So I dont really think they'd ever get it to work right here in the unlikely event they were ever to return

We'll always have our memories, but if the choice was doing this or losing the track altogether, this is prefereble

I always thought Fontana was one of the better 1.5 mile+ tracks. Being so wide meant that drivers could take several different lines in the corners, reducing the effect of dirty air.

Like everyone else, I'll miss it because of the Indycar history.

Not surprising given that every short track photo I've seen lately features absolutely nobody wearing a mask and packing into stands like sardines. Will be a shame if Red survives so many things, including the helicopter crash that killed Davey Allison, and ends up dying because of the Coronavirus.

If you honestly think they'll go with state/local guidelines as well as the CDC recommendations, you'd be mistaken.

We love money, so forget all of that mumbo jumbo.

We in this case being the track promoters, which I understand. I'm just amazed the people who go can be that dense. But it's their funeral so more power to them, I guess.

Chastain in the #42 next year.

Not sure where this leaves Wallace. Maybe the #48.

Jeff Gluck reporting that:
All Star Race moves to Texas
Texas looses 1 points race weekend
CoTA added to the schedule (replacing said date at Texas)

Matt Mayer of CBS saying there could be up to 4 tracks added to the schedule in 2021 (alongside Nashville SS and likely CoTA)

1 less Texas oval date and a new road course for NASCAR is a good thing in my book.
I'm sure they'll find the shortest layout possible because there's no way they're running the entire F1 track lol

Whatever fucks eddie gossage has to be a good thing

To the surprise of absolutely no one:

All we know is that they bought the Germain charter. Jordan will be majority owner (please don't fuck this up like you did with the Charlotte Hornets) and Hamlin will be a minority owner. Bubba's contract will stretch multiple years. He obviously has the sponsorship to at least keep the team afloat.

Eddie has full gain from this, he gets one of the big marketing events of the year for the series & doesn't loose any Cup dates per-say.

CoTA is going to be a big snoozer unless it rains. Shorter layout won't help, hell the V8 Supercar races there were complete snoozers there.

Michael Jordan's involvement in NASCAR could be huge in terms of attracting new fans to the sport. I think this team has a chance to be successful with them likely getting equipment from Joe Gibbs.
