Looks like the Truck Series could be headed to Road America and Mosport next season. I approve.

Quote:
NASCAR is expected to announce soon that the Camping World Truck Series will return to road-course racing in the 2013 season and that is great news for Canada's Canadian Tire Motorsports Park. A source close to Camping World loop told the Toronto Sun that negotiations are all but complete to add a race at Road America in Elkhart Lake, Wis., for next season. That same source also said NASCAR would most certainly add a second road course so that it would make economic sense for the truck teams. "Teams would have to construct purpose built trucks for Road America so to keep those costs in line a second race just makes sense." A truck race at CTMS--formerly Mosport--would be a prefect fit for the track's new owners. Ron Fellows--and his partners Alan Boughton and Carlo Fidani--have been actively pursuing a top NASCAR touring series race. "I was on the phone June 1 (the day the group announced it had purchased the legendary Ontario track) with NASCAR officials telling them we wanted a race," Fellows said in a phone interview from Toronto. "And we are continuing to seek a race at Canadian Tire Motorsports Park." It will be at least mid to late summer before NASCAR bosses release their 2013 schedules but it is now a good bet that there will be two truck races turning left and right next season. Fellows said that the addition of Canadian Tire--a major NASCAR partner--as the name sponsor at CTMS will boost the track chances at getting the nod for a race

The trucks were rumored to be going to both Road America and Watkins Glen this year, but the deal fell through on both, which I assume is why there are 3 less races for the trucks this year rather than 1
Looking forward to the trucks going road racing though

Perhaps they could move the Nationwide race to Mosport in 2013 if the Montreal promoters can't get their shit together by then.

Mosport would be a more interesting track too. Hopefully they can do some work with the oval, too.

Isn't that why the WMT stopped going to LRP? cos they wouldn't build huge grandstands...

They don't need assigned seating. The hills are like natural grandstands. I mean maybe they could do some temporary ones but fuck permanent stands at Lime Rock.

no like, the town itself couldn't handle that many people being there.

There's probably more to the story then that. Lakeville is small, but when the big bore IMSA cars came there in the 80's the track was packed to the brim and no one bitched. Was there two years ago for the WMT race and the crowd was good, traffic was not a problem. ALMS races bring in the crowds too and there isn't much of a issue, at least as far as I could see.

I suspect Limerock won't pay the sanction fee.

There's a lot of Inn's and B&B's around the Lakeville, Salisbury, Canaan area. Heck even down into Kent. Not to mention some bigger towns with Motels and Hotels are around like New Milford. I mean you're only talking Trucks, not Cup. If Lime Rock could handle IMSA, ALMS, Grand-Am, Busch North, then you'd think they can handle the Truck series. But, like stated above, probably comes down to $$.

The 2013 Chevrolet will be "a new nameplate to the brand's lineup," so not Impala or Malibu.

Is the Cruze too small for competition? Perhaps the Volt?

Though I honestly hope they've been saving the Camaro for Cup.
