Wait, you're telling me that NASCAR Twitter overreacted to a mere rumor that turned out to be a misunderstanding?

No...you...don't...say...

The only solution is to take those tracks off the schedule, or lower the banking.

I love that Chad Knaus mentioned running the backstretch chicane at Dega once.

doesn't that statement by Blaney completely contradict NASCAR's own memo that was sent to the drivers last week?

also of note (but not heavily publicized), Kurt Busch said he was given the crash test report recently (interview was on Sunday morning) & that the results were inconclusive

another public statement by NASCAR over the NextGen safety concerns, with Scott Miller basically saying that they should of been more upfront & open earlier on in the process.

-

pace notes from this week's Door Bumper Clear episode on the NextGen issues (starts at 36 minutes in or so): Freddie/Brett/TJ have been hearing rumors about the crash tests putting the dummies in fatal load in the sled tests for the last 3 to 4 weeks; Dega test didn't kill the dummy but the test had other issues (there was a light rumor about that the robot lifted before the planned 130 MPH impact & the test was only at 113 MPH); Freddie lightly thinking that the car will have a CoT type rollout if it runs at all (either it be due to safety issues & parts shortages).

What does that mean? What happened with the COT?

It means it will be rolled out for select races on the calendar instead of the entire schedule in its first year.

exactly, short tracks and road courses

personally hope they throw out the design entirely, the thing is a death trap. Whoever designed the chassis must have thought it was for a skyscraper in Dubai with all of the rectangular tubing on the clips.

Yea, they should chuck it, cut their losses and use the NXS car with a bit more power like Brian Schoenburg suggested.

Xfinity car, with no HP restriction... Profit.

Is it right that the the NextGen car will have bolt on front and rear clips? :tumble:

Running buffed Xfinity cars has the potential to be a very exciting idea, but NASCAR and the manufacturers have already put such a huge development and marketing effort into the Next Gen that there's a negative 99% chance they'll abandon it.

modular chassis with bolt on front & rear clips, both of the clips are essentially built out of rectangular tubing.

NASCAR only has 1 official graphic showing the internal design of the car officially released to the public (looking at the rear 3/4), which is below

For those that have the car on iRacing, you might be able to get a slightly better idea of how the chassis & clips are designed if you mess with the camera tool enough (mainly by moving it around & messing with the near plane bias so the bodywork & tires disappear from view when up close).

Had to expect Cindric getting moved up to Cup sooner rather than later.

I did not expect to see the news regarding Harrison Burton, though. But with JGR seemingly content with the drivers in their Cup program, any younger driver they had in their pipeline that wanted to move up was all but expendable.

That's the image I saw. Man, I dunno about that. I know door cars on the drag strip use bolt in main chassis components, but they also rip apart pretty easy. They must've thought this was a way to reduce costs as you could replace just a clip easier instead of trashing the whole car, but that seems like introducing fail points that are unnecessary and don't really provide a crush zone. That clip will fold like a matchstick and then hit the solid main chassis...

But, what do I know.

Not really a secret, but I think today is the first time someone has said that Kes to Roush is a done deal.

Yeah, I know he's mad and I don't care. I do not care. I did not care then. I do not care now. I'm here to race him.

I hate to see Matt DiBenedetto left without a ride after this. I hope he gets picked up by a good team.

I'm not sure you can play the nepotism card on this one, Cindric's got pretty decent stats across 2 1/2 full GN seasons. It's certainly not Ty Dillon levels.
