Crazy interview with Ryan Newman. He says his helmet was crushed, his head and neck restraint had contact (with parts from the inside of his car) and was pushed back backward in his seat while Lajoie's car was contacting his. He had a bruised brain and was put into a medically induced coma for a bit after the crash. Now I understand why the screens and concern right after the crash.

Just remembered...Chase Elliott is running the Truck race Tuesday night, chasing that big money bounty on Kyle Busch. It was a fun idea already, but now it has plenty of extra intrigue in the mix.

NASCAR's going back to Nashville.

Plot twist, it's not the track we expected (or wanted).

They're apparently moving one of the Dover races.

The Nashville "Superspeedway" is garbage. I get that this is related to the effort to get the old fairgrounds track renovated, but I just hope this race isn't so bad that it kills all momentum.

So this means that over the last few seasons, the northeast quadrant of the country has lost a race at NHMS, lost a race weekend at Pocono, and now lost a race at Dover.

Thought that Dover had fully sold Nashville, but I guess something reverted and they got ownership to the track itself again recently. Last I knew, it was going to be dozed for warehouses - Nissan is just using the grounds to store vehicles currently, and whoever runs the property rents it out to the regional drifting club that frequents the region between Nashville SS, Bristol's parking lot, the garage / paddock area of Charlotte's dragstrip and somewhere over near Knoxville.

Odd how things change so fast - fully get the reasoning behind the move, given how hot of a market that Nashville has become (NASCAR shouldn't have left in the first place) - it's worth a shot to see if they can convince the Fairgrounds operators to get the track updated for a NASCAR date (however with how close some neighborhoods are to the track, it's gonna be a tough sell for a Cup night race).

Just sucks to see the northeast constantly getting crapped on with loosing so many major series dates (IndyCar as a whole between Pocono & Watkins Glen, Loudon + Pocono & now Dover with NASCAR) & other tracks being shuttered fully.

With the track reopening, I wonder how long before we see Dover (and or) Firestone try to get a IndyCar race back there. Might not be the best track racing wise (it would be so much better if it was asphalt), but it might be the perfect opportunity with having a hometown driver in the field (Newgarden)

The best thing ever to happen at that track was an invocation

Not just an invocation...it was the Mother of All Invocations.

I used to like the track as it was a bit unique. The length was 1.33 mile, concrete surface, narrow groove and had to drive it with a lot more finesse than your usual cookie-cutter intermediate oval. Always did well there in my NR2003 leagues. :-)

The only two things I remember happening at Nashville Superspeedway besides that invocation is Joe Nemechek randomly flipping and that race in 2004 or so where the top 4 took each other out with a lap to go and Michael Waltrip won.

I gotta say, I’mana take back a few words I’ve said bad about NASCAR to applaud them on how they’ve handled the social changes sweeping the US the last few weeks. Also hats off to RPM for letting Bubba Wallace speak the words we as a sport need to hear. Most importantly I’m proud of Bubba taking a leadership roll in the fight against racism in the sport.

NASCAR is allowing limited fan attendance for Homestead and Talladega. Homestead will be open exclusively to South Florida area service members, capped at 1000, while Dega will allow up to 5000 fans to attend.
