Some people in our family were very religious, would go to Church every Sunday etc. but when relatives started dying of cancer, they turned their back on it and haven't been to Church since, similarly in other areas of the family, sworn athiests turned to religion for comfort when relatives died. The excuses given to justify events, or lack of them, is quiet amazing, no disrespect to any religious people here, you believe what you want, but some people I know are masters of self delusion.

RIP Steve, a guy who it seemed you could literally relate to, everybody knows someone with a similar character.

Let's leave the religious talk, be it pro, anti or indifferent, out of this area. This is for motorsports talk.

I agree. If you want to talk religion, go do it in the Chit Chat forum. Create a thread called "Religious Discussion" or something.

NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour & ARCA driver Tommy Barrett Jr. was arrested last week for driving under the influence. Barrett was also cited for driving unreasonably fast and failing to signal a turn.

That format sounds better than previous versions. Still upset that Heffner finished 2nd in his heat and did not advance.

I'm late but RIP Steve :(
It was coming but I'm still a bit shocked. One thing I liked about him was that he was always smiling or laughing, pretty joyful guy and one of the last good commentators left

Brian France says #NASCAR likely to accommodate @KyleBusch for Chase. Says injuries "are on us."

Seriously!?!?

But really.. Kyle probably won't be in a car before the chase starts.. and even if he is, the likelihood of him winning one is pretty slim.

Even if he did come back and win a race before the chase started, wouldn't he still have to be inside the top 30 in points? I just don't see it happening.

Yeah, I wouldn't worry about it. First things first, he has to be comfortable in the car, which is a long process.

Another really poor decision but it does potentially add another driver to the list who could wind up eligible at Homestead despite missing races. I'd love the final four to be composed entirely of drivers that missed races but worked their way in. It's a long shot but the very fact that it's possible is a joke. A joke I would love to see come to fruition.

I think that's the part little Brian is talking about overlooking by "accomodating" Kyle.

That would be such shit if Kyle is allowed to be part of the Chase. Though I saw that he said he would like to see it but it's not just dickhead's choice.

Next year Brian France should just choose the top 15, with a fan vote for the 16th

So after Mikey runs Dega, it's rumored that David Ragan will run the 55 for the rest of the year - or, whenever Brian Vickers gets off blood thinners.

Apparently, Waltrip said until Vickers has a long-term solution for what he's going through, that challenges MWR's ability to confirm *if* he's returning (Mikey's quote had "if" and not "when"). Not sure if that was meant to be vague, but it seems pretty clear that Vickers' issues pose a problem for his keeping his ride. It would be the same with any other team as well, I think. It's understandable, but still quite a bummer! :(

In any case, that would leave the 18 open for Erik Jones. He'll probably out-perform Ragan right off the bat, too.

***Something else that just popped into my head...***

Is JGR about to encounter a Hendrick-like conundrum? Jones is obviously a hell of a driver, and with Carl just signed, Kenseth still being relatively new, Kyle being an obvious asset and Denny being a mainstay, I'm not sure where Jones would end up whenever he goes to Cup full-time.

Has there ever been a year with SO MANY driver swaps after the start of Speedweeks? This is absolutely bananas. Can't recall more than one driver being out at once in the past.

No it's never been like this. I mean drivers going from team to team is crazy enough but also add in manufacturer to manufacturer in Ragan's case ... it's boardline insane.

Is there a list of the swaps? I can't remember all.
