The field fillers haven't been generating a lot of positive stories lately have they.

Ciccarelli: Trump/Flag
Harmon: Stolen trucks
Reaume: Anti Semitic
Iwuji: way off the pace, causing wrecks
Dawson Cram: screwing Brett Moffitt
Rick Ware: trying to start James Davison at Talladega with no practice + being way off the pace + buying all these charters
Quin Houff: Texas debacle

Guess they think bad press is better than no press at all? :tumble:

They need to stay off the radar. If you're 3 secs off the pace don't draw attention to yourself.

-Daniel Hemric will drive the #18 for Joe Gibbs in the Xfinity series.

Although not announced, it is expected that Riley Herbst is going to replace Chase Briscoe in the #98.

According to Jayski.com the truck series will drop their race at Eldora next year

Eldora has since released a statement confirming this. There is also rumblings of 2 dirt races on the truck schedule next year. Bristol is likely one but I don't know what the other one would be, Knoxville? Vegas dirt track? Charlotte?

Eldora hasn't been that great over the years. It all became single file after 20 laps.

That's not the issue here. To me, it seems like a power play maneuver because Eldora is confirmed as a round in SRX.

wait, you're afraid of auto racing Senior PGA, NASCAR?

Just when you think Natalie Decker's 2020 season can't get any worse than it has, it does: she went out on a hot date with Corona-chan. Keep in mind that health issues forced her off the track in the latter part of 2020.

SRX is nothing but propaganda at this stage. I'll believe it when it happens.

From what I had heard - it was Eldora pulling the plug on the event, not NASCAR.

the hot rumor was that Tony wanted a Cup date & NASCAR said no, which was the final straw for the Truck date. Same sort of deal that happened with Montreal (they wanted a Cup race & Busch race on the same day, which NASCAR was very against at the time & still is in terms of their tracks' mantra of having multiple races on the same day as a Cup date), now the difference is that we know that Eldora couldn't support a Cup date unless alot of changes happened in the pre-pandemic world. However in the post-COVID world, I wouldn't be surprised in the slightest if it brought Tony back to the bargaining table with single day shows & lesser need for certain infrastructure.

the rumors of the Truck race going away from Eldora has been around for at least 3 or 4 years now, so it doesn't surprise me at all.

-

I personally feel the SRX date was a separate thing from the loss of the Truck date, other than it might of been a planned filler event if the Trucks were dropped. Comparing Trucks & SRX, I feel like SRX would be a better bang for buck value knowing that either Trucks (or) SRX in Eldora's case would be a 4th or 5th tier event behind it's crown jewels (World 100, Kings Royal, DLM Dream) to start with, and that it brings network / free to air TV to the table (CBS) where as the Trucks was going to be a midweek race on either FS1 (or like 2018 where the race was bumped to FOX News / FOX Business due to a soccer match.)

I do think SRX as a whole (with it's TV deal with CBS) lit a fire under the execs at FOX however, as they were the ones begging SMI / Bristol & NASCAR to put dirt now for the spring Cup date.

-

now in terms of Eldora / NASCAR on dirt in general, I do think NASCAR could put on a good dirt race - if they wanted to. When it was green flag racing, Eldora was a pretty good show. The problem with Eldora though, was a mixture of race control being trigger happy with the cautions (TV wanted more commercials probably like usual) & the race format itself. If it was a 100 lapper where green flag laps counted, then it would of been a much better show. The cars could be better for dirt if they made some minor changes (if they had a alternative to not running a lexan windshield, so that they can run a heavier track), or if they were lighter & didn't have tapered spacers / limited engines (the Trucks were barely at street stock pace most years)

Knoxville replacing Eldora on the Truck schedule, which also essentially replaces Iowa in terms of the market. Watkins Glen & Nashville (Superspeedway) also added

Judging from the picture posted on Jayski's site with the article about yesterday's oval test, they were indeed running big (and I mean BIG) rear spoilers.

So basically all the elements that make the current cars race like shit, present and accounted for.

I read it on Jayski as he's no longer with Fox and looking for his next opportunity?

I was under the impression that FOX got rid of him. They're really cutting back it seems.

Morgan Shepherd has Parkinson's Disease.

https://www.jayski.com/2020/11/23/morgan-shepherd-battling-parkinsons-disease/

My grandfather had it late in his life and it's not easy to see somebody go through it. I hope nothing but the best for him.
