I don't think they'd spend all that money on establishing a foothold in Austin to jettison that any time soon for Sonoma.

But yeah I'd rather they built Austin and left decent tracks like that, Road America, Laguna etc tarmac free.

Remember, Bernie thinks America should have multiple Grand Prixs. Right now we have one in the middle of the country (Texas) one set for the east side (NY / NJ). Sears Poi....errr...Infineon...err...Sonoma is a viable west coast candidate.

Does this normally happen there in the winter or have track officials done this?

Watkins Glen disagrees.

It's normal during the rainfall season.

As much as I like Sonoma in the summer, I'd like to see a race held in the spring. I know they've done this before, but they should do it again.

It's an ISC track, of course NASCAR was a huge part in that decision. That's like saying the FIA don't pave F1 tracks. Strictly speaking it's true, but we all know who is at play there

Lap times would probably be in the 1 min 0x sec region. Maybe a little too short for F1.

Even the long course that Indycar uses?

Are you kidding me? Of course it was. Having to throw a yellow every 5 laps for someone in the kitty litter because NASCAR doesn't know how to effectively run a road course race is exactly why all those run off areas were paved.

Don't you remember the race a few years back where Kyle Busch got a top 10 after being 5 laps down?

Yeah I used IndyCar laptimes to get an approximate F1 time lol.

Also all that grass that disappeared from the infield of Daytona, Talladega,....hell most oval infields really, too long to list.

I read that Kyle Busch announced that Parker Kligermann will be competing for a championship in the Nationwide Series for Kyle Busch Motorsports in 2013. He will be driving car #77.

The tarmac going into turn one was put into place in 2005 for IndyCar. They added tarmac going into turn six and coming out of turn ten in 2010.

I'm not a fan of vast asphalt runoff but I sure was glad it was there outside the penultimate corner at the Glen this year, otherwise Ambrose would have beached after the bump from Kes and not been able to stage that awesome comeback at the final corner to win.
