In other words we can read the room and spending millions on NASCAR while telling our staff we can’t afford to give them a pay increase, isn’t going to wash anymore…

I guess that’ll be the end of the Truck Series then? Didn’t NASCAR say before Camping World rocked up that if they couldn’t find a series sponsor they’d close the series?

They’ll probably find a new title sponsor.

There is a rumor that Craftsman may be returning to sponsor the truck series. They are now under the DeWalt/Stanley tools umbrella, so it's more possible than it was in the past.

They should have one combined race each year with Truck, Xfinity, and Cup on the track together like in endurance racing with multiple classes. At 'dega so each class would race in their own pack, and the challenge would be to survive when a slower class pack was overtaken by a faster one.

Interesting comment from Elliott Sadler about his happy hour crash at Michigan in 2000.

While it would be a weird thing to lie about, I have to say I just don’t believe this is true.

You are right to be skeptical. That is, an absolute crock of shit. There is no way that car was higher than the fence. MIS had the new fencing installed by this time after the '98 CART crash. You can see from the onboard when the car starts over and the left front fender impacts the track before starting to barrel roll.

That car never got more than 90 degrees to the wind before coming back down and flipping.

Or he has the Rusty Wallace syndrome where he makes the crash more insane each time he tells the story.

A lot of people refer to the wall as fence, seems to be a generational thing, I’ve heard many commentators refer to the wall as fence over the years, just playing devils advocate here…..

But why delete it when they actively show over and over Dillons crash everytime the series go back to Daytona, and from unbroadcast angles too - makes no sense….

Yep, in his 1983 Twin 125 flip, I think he said he flipped 21 times and in the 1993 Daytona 500 flip he flipped 38 times. Or something like that, if I recall.

Just a little before, in 1999 there was a fatal crash where a tyre flew over the fence and killed 3 spectators there in a CART race. It was a big bad publicity thing.

Noah Gragson moving to Cup with the 42 team next year.

Not sure I see Richard Petty tolerating his shit (particularly the intentionally tearing up cars part) for even a full season.

He's an upgrade from Ty Dillon, I'll give him that.

That being said, now the upside is...fluke high-banked superspeedway win because Joey Logano loves to block.

Fun fact: Elliot Sadler would have gone into the seats if he didn’t hit the bottom of a still flipping Rusty.

'98 US 500 was the 3 spectators at Michigan. '99 was the 3 spectators at Charlotte in the IRL race.
