With that finish, all Jimmie needs to do is finish 37th to win the title.

Basically, he must not screw up to win.

So depending on the attrition rate, I guess we could see another one of those weird unrollings of the championship banner moments in the middle of the race.

It's the 90's all over again

The funny thing is, under the pre-chase format, Jimmie would only be leading by 56 over Carl right now.

Props to Kenseth for the retaliation, bummer for the others that got caught up in it. I expected more car control from the 10 with the hit though.. it's not like he completely plowed him.

Oh well, I laughed.

For the hundredth time, that's a flawed argument. If you're going to assume there's no Chase, you also have to assume the teams would have raced accordingly, thus differently.

Well this isn't much different at least during the last half of the chase, its still the same thing with Carl chasing down Jimmie the only difference is Carls chances at the cup are a little larger. And the way they've been racing now, I doubt there would be much change if they were racing in the old format. Just my thoughts.

Another weekend, another race I didn't watch. I only tuned in long enough to hear Jimmie was winning. Sounds like there were some more bonehead moves like last week. Tempers must really be wearing thin when Matt Kenseth is wrecking people; he always seemed to me like one of the most collected guys in the field... and I can still see the face he made when Jeff Gordon gave him a shove a few years ago. :)

Congrats to Ambrose for a top-20 finish!

Kenseth and Montoya were upto their usual idiot selves and caused unecessary wrecks.

Title race is over (has been for weeks)

Hey, Wallmendinger started that whole mess. Montoya was just racing hard.
