The ideal tire would have more life than that, but today’s race was the most positively captivating Cup series race in what feels like ages. Pleased with it for sure.

Being there live, it really was!

It took awhile being in the stands to realize exactly what was going on, but once they showed the tires on the big screen, it quickly became apparent. The last 150 laps were fantastic. Didn't know where to look honestly.

It's ok, I'm sure everyone's favourite short, fat loud mouth will have his say on the situation.

Feels like NASCAR heard us discussing how the tyres shouldn't last a fuel stint in the Indycar thread to improve their racing, and made it happen for them instead :P

That was everything I wanted to see in a NASCAR race, now watch them mandate so it can never happen again :whistling:

Listened to the Teardown podcast with Gluck and Bianchi yesterday just because I was very interested in seeing how the mainstream media's perception of all this was.

Seems like the media, drivers, sanctioning body were all unanimous in that the race was excellent.

However Bianchi stated that both NASCAR and Goodyear were perplexed on how this happened and doesn't even know if it will be duplicated in September when they come back. This was the same tire used in last September's race and then the track took rubber and there were no issues. This time the track didn't take rubber which led to the tire wear. I think the weather had something to do with this, but I could be wrong. It was a chilly day Sunday, mainly due to the wind. Air temperature was around 55-60F.

Also the compound was some resin instead of PJ1, which was a first.
