As Race 7 in the Chase rolls around, The NASCAR Sprint Cup Series now heads to one of the fastest tracks on the circuit, the Atlanta Motor Speedway. Earlier this year, back in the Spring, Kyle Busch nabbed Toyota's first win in a race that can easily be regarded as one of the worst of the season, reflected by Tony Stewart's verbal tirade against Goodyear for making the tire compunds for the race so hard that cars were barely drivable. Now, after extensive testing at the Charlotte Motor Speedway, come Sunday, we'll see whether or not anything has changed.

But before Sunday's big show, the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series plays host to a race on Saturday. Atlanta has historically held exciting races at the World's Fastest Half-Mile, but hasn't put on a real barn burner since 2007. With Atlanta losing one of it's Truck dates to Chicagoland next season, will the Trucks put on one final Fall thriller? Or has Atlanta spat the Trucks out as quickly as it warmed up to it?

However, Saturday also features the NASCAR Nationwide Series at Memphis Motorsports Park. And last year, this race was notorious in the minds of fans as the biggest Slam-bang-crash'em slugfest in years, with 25 cautions for 117 laps, just falling short of a record set at Hickory in 1992, as David Reutimann went on to win. This year, with Clint Bowyer having one hand on the championship as Carl Edwards & Brad Keselowski lag behind, the Nationwide series goes to their final stand-alone event, with plenty of inexperience in the field. 18 year old Rookie Marc Davis will make his debut in the #18, and with other drivers such as Justin Marks, Scott Lagasse, Josh Wise, and John Wes Townley, could trouble be ahead for Bowyer? And what about the possibility of nature intertwining, and sending Bowyer & Edwards back to Nashville?

All this and more will be answered, as we are now at 4 minutes to Midnight!

Actually, the National Weather Service lists it as 80 percent for Hampton, which is where the track is. Atlanta is a huge metro area, it could be raining like hell in one spot and be a nice sunny day in the other.

Granted, we need the rain, but good lord.

Seriously, NASCAR vs Mother Nature has been a bitch of a fight this year. I feel like I haven't seen qualifying in months! :(

 Yeah it was. Go figure. We could be in the middle of a madass drought, no rain for months, and NASCAR comes to town, rain all over the radar.

It's all NASCAR divisions too. We always have beautiful weather up here in NW Connecticut then the Camping World East series comes to Lime Rock and there's ALWAYS a threat of rain. That's why they moved it from Sept/Oct to mid Aug. But even in Aug, there's a threat.
