This lightning rule is killing racing more than the "race control needs to throw a red to make sure you're on the correct tyres, you don't have any choice in the matter" rule

Ehh, modern racing, how we get any running the wet at all these days is a miracle... :yuk:

It's been over an hour, there doesn't seem to be any clouds in the sky :whistling:

I'm going to bed, that'll make the race start....Enjoy

Well, some group decided to trespass the street circuit overnight and drive on it. Which leads to an arrest of one man

The most Florida Man thing to do.

Race won't be resuming in 10 minutes, weather's still crap and gates at the track haven't even been opened yet.

Edit:

Edit:

They can run in the rain though? Is lightning still around?

This is going to be a big deal if after all this hype, expendeture and set up, the whole thing gets called off due to a bit of lightning within 10 miles, or whatever it is... :?

I read somewhere they'll run in the rain as long as the visibility is ok so I guess that means only light rain. But yeah the problem now is that there's still been lightning around this morning

The rain has also been very heavy based on the short clips I've seen on Twitter.

Couple of silly but sincere questions...

1) They have rain tires for road courses, and in the past, they've raced in absolute deluges, so what's the problem with the bit of rain that's going on now?

2) With the track being nestled slap bang in the middle of so many very tall buildings, won't the lightning get to one of those building's arresters first?

I'm guessing Chicago isn't gonna let them keep the track layout built for a race tomorrow? lol

How many laps until halfway in xfinity race. Looks to me like they will parade under yellow until then and call it...

I'm surprised they're not bringing the Cup start time up first and do that for them instead....then see if Xfinity has a chance at all or not
