2 years ago, this seemed impossible.

Race week kicks off on Tuesday with the ASA STARS National Tour in a 150 lap feature. CARS Tour has 2 races at the facility on Wednesday: Pro Late Models start the night with a 75 lap feature, while the Late Model Stocks headline with a 125 lap feature. NASCAR Cup & Truck competition starts on Friday with practice & the pit stop competition. Trucks race on Saturday afternoon, with heat races for the All Star Race to follow. Much like the last couple of years, the All Star Race will be held on Sunday evening.

NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series - 40 trucks entered

CARS Pro Late Model Tour - 50 cars entered

All Star Race - Format:
qualifying: Pit Crew Challenge
heat races: 60 laps / straight up. Race 1 sets the inside row, Race 2 sets the outside row
Open: 100 laps, 1 break around lap 40. 3 cars advance to the All Star Race
All Star Race: 200 laps, 1 break around lap 100. Only 1 set of tires will be remaining for teams to use for pit stops after the break.

elsewhere across NASCAR & ARCA:
- ARCA East is racing at Flat Rock on Saturday night. This is the first race for ARCA stock cars (albeit on a regional level) at Flat Rock since 2000.
- NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour fights the weekly regulars at Riverhead for the first time in 2023 on Sunday.
- NASCAR Pinty's Series makes their first road course stop of 2023 at Mosport on Sunday.

Billy Venturini is going to run his first ARCA race since 2007 at Flat Rock.

I don't remember the last time I was this excited for the All Star Race. I am so happy that North Wilkesboro is back.

Is everybody forgetting the short track car package is/was a pile of crap? It’s nice to see the track back but I can’t be excited knowing the cars drive so badly on this type of track that unless you have a field full of Chastains’s nothing would happen.

There's 3 seconds of fall off in 30 laps. This alone will overcome the problems of the package.

Why 200 laps? Why so long for any of them?

Open is 50 laps, cautions don't count. Top 2 transfer.

30 lap heats. Top 5 from each heat to the redraw. Cautions don't count.

75 green flag lap main. Break at lap 35. Can't change tires unless it's flat. Any adjustment you want except that at the break. Cautions don't count.

Richmond also has enormous tire degradation, and that isn’t enough to make the place exciting.

Because they need the 190 laps to show racing between the ads followed by the 10 lap demolition derby at the end that lasts another hour.

#1 reason why I only considered going to the Late Model races (going on Wednesday)

Even with the cheese grater surface - I don't have much trust in Goodyear bringing a tire that actually has fall off for the Trucks either (judging from Bristol last summer where the ARCA race was the only one that had actual tire falloff)

I bet the Trucks could be fun simply because they aren't GT vehicles being shoehorned into oval racing.

is what they said before, those cars need to run all the power they can in short tracks, like in the good old days

a small piece of asphalt came up earlier, already repaired with practice on track presently

Race Monitor has live timing for both ASA STARS & CARS Tour (broadcast coverage is on Flo)

fastest in first practice:
ASA STARS: Bubba Pollard
CARS LMSC: Connor Hall
CARS PLM: Connor Zilisch

Weather is looking horrible later today for this region

-

Michael McDowell to run a Mark Martin throwback

Yep good idea, but the races are too long.

They could fill up the ad space with some video packages of old North Wilkesboro highlights if they were that desperate.

with the concrete patch next to the new pit exit wall & the repaved apron, I would expect the next races over later this weekend to be a tick more bottom feed in turn 1 & 2 compared to the traditional diamond line. At least that's how it seemed last night.

Overall damn good night of racing between the 3 series.

The improvements to the track were pretty wild. I don't think I've been to a race track before that had WIFI completely throughout it

Ogata's truck just caught fire, looked like a oil line or something popped off
