The other surprise was that Martin Truex Jr. was 34th in qualifying. Qualifying was interesting because of the different things the drivers were trying to get heat in the tires before they started their lap. Reddick really scrubbed his tires when he came out to run and it really helped because he gained a lot on his 2nd lap. This should be an interesting race. I hope it's a good race and it doesn't turn into a shit show with a bunch of cars spinning each other out.

My local fox affiliate is running a telethon instead of showing the race.

SKY TV here in NZ doesn't seem to be showing it either.

Kyle Busch goes wire-to-wire to win race 1. Daniel Suarez, Ricky Stenhouse Jr. and Ryan Blaney also transfer. Denny Hamlin is among those going to a LCQ.

Reddick wins race 2 with ease. Chase Briscoe, Austin Dillon and Cole Custer advance. Alex Bowman, Martin Truex Jr. and Brad Keselowski are among those going to an LCQ. Cars were 3 wide at one point and they manage to not wreck.

Justin Haley wins race 3 wire-to-wire. William Byron, Christopher Bell and Chase Elliott advance. Kevin Harvick and others go to an LCQ. Haley didn't run away from the field like Kyle Busch and Tyler Reddick did in their heat races.

It took until heat race 4 to get a caution. Ty Dillon had a mechanical problem and slowed on the track.

It took 3 laps to get the 2nd. Kurt Busch, Landon Cassill and Austin Cindric play bumper cars and Cindric ended up spinning.

Logano wins Heat 4, leading all 25 laps. Kyle Larson, Michael McDowell and Erik Jones advance. Austin Cindric and Kurt Busch are among those going to an LCQ.

Martin Truex Jr. gets the provisional and will not race the LCQ's and will start 23rd in the main. He's the highest driver in 2021 points not already in the field.

First car to find the fence today is Aric Almirola in the first LCQ after contact with Todd Gilliland going into turn 3. Aric Almirola is out of the race and won't race in the Clash.

Yeah, I know he's mad and I don't care. I do not care. I did not care then. I do not care now. I'm here to race him.

Denny Hamlin, Kevin Harvick and AJ Allmendinger advance. Harvick looked like he had a chance at Hamlin in the closing laps and may have slipped a time or two and that cost him some time. I was surprised at how competitive both Rick Ware cars have been today. Ware was decent in practice and was competitive in the LCQ. Preece was in contention for a transfer spot in his heat race for a while.

The 2nd LCQ has been pretty exciting. They were under a caution for a Ryan Preece spin. Bubba Wallace, Kurt Busch, Alex Bowman, Ty Dillon and Harrison Burton were putting on quite a show before that.
