Say all you want about this stupid format but at least the best driver of the season won the championship.

Congrats Kyle Larson!!!

And to think it all started with a racial slur.

That's a pretty cynical point of view. Larson didn't have a career of note before that incident?

He'd never win a title with Ganassi though. Hendrick got a real talent for peanuts, no offense to Byron or Bowman but Larson is a better driver based on his Ganassi results alone.

He wasn't going to win shit* in Floyd's equipment, although I still believe that he was headed out of that door and through Hendrick's at the end of last season regardless.

Yeah, I know he's mad and I don't care. I do not care. I did not care then. I do not care now. I'm here to race him.

Exactly. The N-bomb was really just a stupid and unnecessary near-implosion of a career that was probably always headed for Hendrick and a championship. But Larson deserves credit for doing the right things to come back from it.

I've seen what Kyle can do in a Sprint Car and dirt Super Late Model first hand... Now he's a Cup Champion...

I've said it multiple times... Please, Roger, for God Sake, get this man in that 4th car in the back of the shop for the big race in May.

I am not a fan of Kyle, but I respect talent and greatness. Kyle is a generational talent.

I'm very pleased he won this championship.

rumor has it that staff shortages & prep for the Porsche IMSA/WEC programs already nuked any chance for a 4th 500 entry in '22

I know Kyle races in some dangerous cars like sprints and midgets but personally, the Indy 500 is on a different level of danger. Yea, racers are racers and all that. Still, can't help but think a small part of Larson isn't too keen on the 500 for that reason. Especially now that he's a dad. Even Jimmie steered clear of the 500 last year.

Regarding the championship, I've not been able to take a single Cup championship since 2004 seriously. The mind simply won't let me. Playoffs and motorsports (except drag racing cuz it's one-on-one) simply don't compute. A whole year's effort felt so different and meaningful. This is like jumping through randomly moving hoops.

I'm surprised they didn't throwed any late dubious caution to force overtime shenanigans, very well deserved

next thing they'll do is move the Coke Zero 400 to the championship race to see the champion emerging alive from late race blocking derpness

Larson on the matter:

"A chance to win".

You make your own chance to win, Kyle. By commiting to the race, by making the field and being the best come race day.

there would be less car destruction at a Monster truck rally if they did that  but your right I always wondered if they would try a schedule that starts in Daytona and ends in Daytona. i wouldnt put it past them

plus they'll keep the final race on regular season at Daytona, but on the road course
