I thought the fence tore off Brad’s RR wheel but that last shot before this commercial break clearly showed the wheel already off. Kyle hit him THAT GODDAMN HARD. Awful.

Seriously, why is blocking still considered acceptable or even a beneficial strategy. History shows it fucks the blocker way more often than it benefits them.

Wow, Michael McDowell wins the Daytona 500. What a feel-good story that is. He's waited a long time and had to drive some shit cars (MSRP anybody?) to get to this moment.

Yeah clearly it was the smart move to just accept your fate. Hamlin did the right thing last year and the worst case scenario was gonna be third, but it kept him alive and...shit broke his way and he won.

Great to see a feel good winner for once, glad all the drivers were okay, that was scary. Logano's a fucking moron.

Just fast forwarded through most of my recording... man am I glad I didn't stay up for that one. What a shitty race.

Glad all the drivers are ok after that wreck, that was a nasty one.

It would help to see a replay from the air, or looking down the backstraight. I didn't see Logano do anything massively stupid. He moved to the outside to cover off the cars with a run. Then McDowell and Brad get a huge run and all end up on top of each other. I can't tell if Logano is throwing a block, or if Brad is just arriving with a massive run which puts Joey into a spin. It looks as if Brad is going to get spun by McDowell, even if Joey doesn't move down on them.

Great to see an underdog win, but I've lost patience with this kind of racing. Every single race descends into a complete farce on the final lap and we very rarely get to see a good clean fight to the line. I like the package, but the runs are so big that blocking almost always causes a pile up. They could change the rules on blocking/defending, but not sure if that would negatively impact the racing. Either way, I'll just stick to the highlights of plate races for now... Amazing that no one has been hurt in the last few years.

Watch him thank God in the first sentence.

Michael McDowell post-race interview:

"I can't believe it, just gotta thank God." Priceless.

In all honesty though, great to see him win this race. He deserved it. Gotta say I'm also always happy to jump on Logano for shitty driving or blocking but this time he didn't seem to really be at fault.

I'll take a new winner.

Front Row now has 3 wins since 2013. Roush only has 7 in that time frame. Kinda sad when you think about it.

McDowell did nothing wrong. I was hesitant to post this at the moment, but I actually think this is more an actual accident than anything. Logano moves, but I can't tell if that's before or after Brad touches his left rear. I think Brad misjudged the closing rate just a smidgen and got there before he was clear.

Joey's still a douchebag, but I'm not 100% sure this one was his fault.

I don't think Logano actually moved when Kes turned him. Just a hit into the wrong spot as Kes himself was getting it from McDowell. Logano did make some moves beforehand but none of them were the over the top chop blocks we've seen previously. No one's really at fault, it was just a matter of unfortunate circumstances while drivers were eager to win the biggest NASCAR race of the year.
