after some of the things I heard about that accident, I would love to see some safety groups be able to do some crash testing runs / data collection in regards to that style of impact on a LaJoie/Butler/ISP/Kirkey aluminum seat (which most have tubing built in like a roll cage) versus the newer carbon fiber seats built by Fibreworks & Hendrick

also would love to see some of the rules & regulations opened up to develop new safety advancements in real-time. I fear we are gonna get into a issue where safety advancements come too late because of the rules & everything involved

This Days of Thunder behind the scenes doc is a million times more interesting than the actual movie.

Get the fuck out of here. Days of Thunder is a gift to motorsports cinema, and decades from now will be looked back on as a perfect time capsule of peak '80s American movie making. I'm only being maybe 10% sarcastic here.

aside from the cinematic crashes and the off track cheesiness, Days of Thunder was quite a good display of cars on track, back when they had to put the cars on track and not rely on crap cgi like Driven did. Plus it has a great soundtrack

perhaps Nascar could start a new tradition of running Daytona 500 on mondays since the sunday weather isn't that gentle with them
