The highlights reel made it look like a decent race. The restarts were entertaining, but they didn't show much else other than crashes than restarts, so I guess the actual racing was pretty poor once things settled down?

Once you got about a lap or so past the restart, aero push was king. Everybody just rode around stuck behind everyone else. Outside of restarts, there was next to no passing unless a lapped car was involved to mix things up.

Goodyear has no excuses, they've raced here how long now?

Simple, they just blame the teams and keep making the same tyres.

This isn't entirely Goodyear's fault.

This rules package enables drivers to be on the throttle constantly, which means more load on the tires, meaning higher likelihood of tire failures.

You're asking a 3500lb stock car making constant left turns with a straightaway to ease up the monotonous task 4 times around 9 degrees worth of banking going...oh, 160-180mph constantly. All while having all the downforce in the world to keep the cars pinned down making such turns.

What do you think's gonna happen?

Yeah, and then they bring a hard tyre and the same people complain about a ruined race by the lack of mechanical grip...

NASCAR should try a DRS-esque device at the straights in IMS.

Kind of like the unofficial DRS that Mikey used to win the Daytona Trucks race back in 2011. :p
