NASCAR's first race back with limited spectators (from the general public) is this weekend at Talladega - which is now in June due to the COVID outbreak. Running this weekend includes the NASCAR Cup Series on Sunday, and a doubleheader on Saturday featuring the NASCAR XFINITY Series & ARCA Menards Series. This weekend will only see the races itself once again for Cup & XFINITY, to limit time at the track for teams in light of the COVID outbreak. ARCA will have a practice session in the morning however.

Entry Lists:
NASCAR Cup Series - 40 cars entered
NASCAR XFINITY Series - 39 cars entered
ARCA Menards Series - 21 cars entered

Other Essentials:
MRN Radio - (Local Affiliates)
Online Scanner (Team Radio)
Random Fantasy Racing Game
Weather Forecasts: Talladega
Paint Scheme Preview (NASCAR.com)

FOR DISCUSSION ON OTHER NASCAR + ARCA SANCTIONED SERIES & SHORT TRACK RACING:

The way I look at it that means we'll be at a record low of only 21 potential additions to the big air list.

I'd like to think that it's only the cars that lag back 20 car lengths from the main pack and end up 3 laps down at the end that haven't shown up for the ARCA race, but somehow I doubt that.

That's gonna be like, what, 15 competitive cars max?

That assuming they don't have any SNAFU in practice and wreck a few before the green

Oh well, it's not the only race of the day, just treat it as a warm up for the XFinity race and it'll be ok

For how long this race-sessions-only week(end) schedule will be in effect? Beginning to feel more like a permanent change for the rest of the season when at the same time they're trying to have as many races as possible.

They could still make it a bit more efficient by cutting the Cup race and having instead two Xfinity races.

James Davison has been told by NASCAR to wait a week for his oval track debut in Cup, as the practice sessions for Talladega were scrapped.

It will be this way until it's safe enough for the series to do multi-day shows again - which honestly at this point, I think we are closer to a second lockdown of American motorsport as a whole if the virus keeps spiking here in NC/SC (gut feeling / personal opinion of course, hopefully it doesn't come to that)

TV contracts is forcing NASCAR's hand to run all of the races - if / where possible.

This is the reason the car count for ARCA is so low. Look at the purse :8:

That basically just pays for the cost of one composite body, which I believe are/were $15k.

To put that in perspective, that's less money than most dirt Super Late Model races if you exclude 1st and 2nd. Hell, we run for $3500 to win on Saturdays with the Big Block. That's 13th place ARCA money for just a Saturday night.

Wasn't the purpose of the composite body to be cheaper than the steel body? Again I am confused; from what I have read the composite bodies are working out significantly more expensive than the steel ones?

At this point I presume this series demise is not down to incompetence, NASCAR is running this series into the ground on purpose.

All single file on lap 4 with a 6 car breakaway... typical ARCA plate race then

Yeah, I know he's mad and I don't care. I do not care. I did not care then. I do not care now. I'm here to race him.

Doesn't matter how few cars you run, some will always hang back to avoid the big one

I guess this'll be only worth watching from the mysterious late caution from about 15 to go..... :whistling:
