The camera in the press room's moved to focus, does that mean we're getting a statement soon?

If for nothing else but to remain positive, lets not forget Bodine's crash in damn near the exact same spot in 2001 and that he survived.

I've seen a few posts on Twitter indicating that a statement may be near. No other info.

True, but by a wild stroke of luck Bodine never took an impact as heavy or in as precisely awful a location as Newman did today. Sorry to be a downer but I think that's the difference here. The same outcome would be awfully goddamn nice though...

Now they've set it up to a single mic I'd say they're preparing for a statement.

Steve O'Donnell, reading a statement: "The injuries are non-life threatening."

Stream got real choppy there. Did they say serious condition but non-life threatening injuries?

Serious, but non life threatening. Newman is one tough SOB.

Now that the worst news is off the table, hope he can fully recover.

Shocked (and obviously relieved) that he has non life threatening injuries.

Well, that's good news then.

He turned 42 in December. I still think we might not see him in NASCAR again. I mean that was the last warning bell to hang 'em up if I ever saw one.
