I'm not giving Jimmie the championship yet, but I will admit he is going to be hard to beat

For only being in Cup since 2002, Jimmie has 3(I hope I jinxed him) NASCAR Championships in 7 years. At this rate, if he continues his ways, he will soon be labeled the greatest NASCAR driver of the modern era. I wonder how that will sit with the Earnhardt Sr. fans.

Nascar already gave the championship and the trophy to Jimmie Johnson in a secret meeting 3 weeks ago, it's just a formality they have to wait until the end of the year to announce it :(

Meh, that race was pretty crap. Congrats to Johnson though, dominating performance (and some killer donuts too).

Every decade has its dominators. Richard and Cale in the 70's, Dale and Darrell in the 80's, Dale and Jeff in the 90's... this decade has been all about Tony Stewart's rise, and Jimmie Johnson's as well.

This title hasn't been won yet, but three titles from 2002 to 2008 would be incredible. Just like I had to begrudgingly admit that Kyle Busch's season was among the greatest ever, it's time that people just held their noses and marveled at what the guy has done since his rookie year. He's been in the hunt for the title in every season he's participated in, and has a worst finish of 5th.

That's pretty crazy, no matter how you slice it.

Jimmie Johnson - '02 - '08: 32 wins, 2 titles
Tony Stewart - '99 - '05: 24 wins, 2 titles
Jeff Gordon - '93 - '99: 49 wins, 3 titles
Dale Earnhardt - '79 - '85: 15 wins, 1 title
Darrell Waltrip - '75 - '81: 39 wins, 1 title
Richard Petty - '60 - '66: 48 wins, 1 title

I know, I know, it's a different era, and who know what would have happened under different sets of rules, and whatnot. It's just interesting to look at, I guess.

He won 7, That's more then what Jimmie has for us so far. I'm a HUGE Jimmie fan but even though Jimmie is one of the greatest drivers in NASCAR Dale and Petty will always be first. Jimmie has some great skills. In the 6 years he has been in NASCAR he has never finished worse then 5th in the points. 5th twice, 2nd twice, and first twice. I will not say he has his 3rd in a row just yet but damn he is there. Cale was the first and so far only one to do it. 1976, 77, 78. But Jimmie has what it takes to get it done and I do not question his talent. Just like he said when he won the 500 "Heres to all the haters" Could go on and on, On all the history making he has done in 6 years and everything but we all know what he's done, so I leave it at that.

But as a fellow Jimmie fan, Don't be saying crap like Jimmie's better then Dale. That's just bull. He is among all the great drivers.

Donnie Allison
Bobby Allison
Jeff Gordon
David Pearson
Richard Petty
Darrell Waltrip
Cale Yarborough

and the rest of the living
