NASCAR: hmm what happens if we use air ducts and gigantic spoilers to create a huge wake in the air

I'm jealous of all the people that get to watch severe weather coverage over this shit.

Weather Channel storm coverage does seem a bit more interesting than the race.

They should get have all the fans in the stands on stationary bikes, whichever drivers' fans collectively pedal the hardest earn their driver more Push To Pass time.

Running the bullring or the dirt track would be acceptable alternatives.

I can't work this package out. It looks slow and single file for large portions of the race, yet now we're getting a half decent battle for the win.

Watch the start, and watch the last three laps, everything else is worth missing. "Great" package, NASCAR.

Need to take away some more horsepower and make the spoiler even higher imo. Something like this -

All they've done is make these aero dependent shitboxes even more aero dependent. :o F1 is gonna be just as bad again this year too with their new wings. Wider simplified fronts and wider rear wings; Literally rearranging deck chairs on the Titanic.

This package is a disgrace. This series is no longer about wheeling cars. All NASCAR wants is to bunch em up at Morgan Shepherd speed in the hope of creating a wreck every race and fights.

Can somebody get in NASCAR's face and tell them that the cars need to be HARD TO DRIVE.

When CART created the Handford Device, it was designed to slow the cars down and take away a lot of downforce. The massive runs was a product of the design. The drivers still had to wheel the cars.

This NASCAR package is like an iRacing C Fixed race at Atlanta with overcast weather. A 5 year old kid can drive that.

They need a package that makes the car visibly wobble about a bit, like they did until 2003 or 2004. This planted on the ground stance has to go before the racing will improve. Even the drivers like Brad and commentators like Phil Parsons are saying all the time to get rid of the splitter, let the cars move about a bit instead of being so reliant on downforce and clean air but NASCAR is just stupid beyond belief.

would need to figure out a device to detect ride height live while on track then, as the teams will still get the cars sealed without the splitter

Banning bump stops and shock springs would help with that.

They also have to raise the rear quarterpanel to above the centre line of the rear tyre.

Remember what ultra high tech F1 used to (and still do?) ensure ground clearance was maintained? A longitudinal wooden plank. Bolted under the car. It was allowed to wear off no more than a small tolerance so teams had to maintain the minimum ride height or risk falling foul of the rule.

Valence, plank (good idea) and spec shocks. Handed out at each race just before practice like the plates. No bump stops allowed. Spoiler height from 2003, make it adjustable, not at a fixed angle. Give'em all the HP they think they can handle. Cut the side skirts right off, cut that ridiculous rear quarter panel back, remove the fin down the rear window.

Then they'll find out who can and can't drive.
