No other organization has shot itself in the foot more times in the last decade than NASCAR. Terrible cars, terrible tracks, terrible tyres and now a fake champion with 200 less points than the ones that should have won it.

While I like Tyler Reddick, I must admit he didn't deserve the championship. That's a result of this terrible points system, where a completely undeserving champion can be crowned.

This morning Steve Phelps had a media session

On what is realistic to expect on changes to the schedule: “I think everything is in play. We’ve heard from our fan base that they would like to see more short track racing, they want to see more road courses, they want to see less cookie-cutter tracks, whatever that means. We are looking with our broadcast partners and with our tracks and teams and drivers to get input on what each of them believes would be an idea schedule and then we’re obviously doing fan research as a part of it. Do I believe that everything is on the table? I do. Will we see a lot of the things that have been talked about? So more short tracks, more road courses, doubleheaders, mid-week racing, pulling the season forward, all those things would be in play. Don’t know what’s going to happen, but we are working diligently on what a 2020 schedule would be.”

So basically minor changes if any....

I cant get any excitement out of this, even with four drivers separated by 0 points in the final race. It's almost like if you keep resetting the points in the last race, you lose the original genuine appeal of having the championship come down to one race, hmmmmm

Best I got

Radio coverage and 4 views....

Not being the main broadcast might be annoying or might be a blessing, Your mileage may vary

I think the current format would be legit with 2 less round , like round of 16 at the end of the regular season and then round of 8 mid chase and that's it. The four left this year are actually legit though , the less deserving of the four is the 22 IMO and it's not like he doesn't belong here at all.

It just goes to show, doesn't matter how much you try to shake up a championship, the cream will always rise to the top

Kevin Harvick has been Micheal Schumacher-era Ferrari'ing this championship all goddamn season long with whatever Mick-Schumacher-is illegal trick they've been pulling with the side skirts, so no amount of artificial chasing is going to stop that
Without the chase he'd have had it locked up by about Daytona July.....

Well , it has not always been like this. JJ lucked his way in to his seventh champonship , he was meh-ish all year long and wouldn't have been even close to get the crown without this format. He just got some ponctual performance at some very fortunate time. How about Ryan Newman almost getting it without winning a single race some years ago ? I think noone would be complaining if this format would bring the cream to the top each year but that's not what has been happening most of the time. It's even more obvious in the lower series.

so if he wins today and the car is deemed illegal they'll keep the victory (and thus the title) and just issue a fat fine with a pat on the back saying "please don't do that again"

Truex is behind Logano in this run, and the broadcast crew just can't shut up about Martinsville

Goddamitt Martin, you'd have done the exact same thing, you made the mistake in timing in the first place, and somehow that was all Joey's fault?
FFS if you wreck him out this championship that'll be NASCAR as fuck

The only solace from the boredom is at least Kyle Busch's pit crew is consistantly shitty.
