Sounds like the Bandit Big Rig Series up in Salem last night would've been the better race to see. (I'm surprised they scheduled it the same weekend as NASCAR at Kentucky, the tracks are less than 80 miles apart).

I'm confused how the sprinklers coming on didn't end up in a giant wreck

Or are we ok for oval racing in the wet now guys?

This series is supposed to be coming to Bristol on Halloween night. So, it sounds interesting enough.

I hadn't heard of them until a year or so ago when they came to Highland Rim Speedway near Nashville. I think last year they nearly put a truck into the grandstands there. Salem by all accounts was a clean affair.

That always worries me about those big rig races - can retaining walls and catch fences take the weight of semi trucks wrecking? Holy shit that cameraman was lucky.

Never been to Highland Rim (though I probably could've had the chance, have a friend who's photographed races there), but the walls there don't look high at all.

I've seen a truck through the fencing at Thruxton as well - I don't think any circuits have strong enough fencing to withstand the weight, I would definitely want to be well back from the circuit if I went to spectate again.

Thruxton isn't a good baseline, a F3 once went through the debris fencing at the chicane like it was a wet paper bag.

I saw the big trucks racing at Snetterton once. I was stood on the outside of Coram corner, when an official drove past me and said I shouldn't have been let anywhere near that area, because the wall wouldn't stop a truck. Ordered me into the car and drove me back to the other side of the circuit!
