With the plates and all the drag, the Cup race will be a colossal shitfest. Just gonna be a bunch of intentional wrecking for the win in the end. They've basically designed everything for that to be the only outcome.

The lack of throttle response will be the killer

Plates worked well for the NXS race at the Brickyard a couple of years back though so I'd reserve judgement before going into full-negativity mode NASCAR fan.

But with that they had that huge wind tunnels in the grill that fed air out the wheel arches to create a huge amount of drag and a great artificial slingshot, are the Cup cars running something similar or is it just the plates? Cos if it's just the plates it won't work.

6 inch high spoiler and air ducts. Boy, they're desperate for pack racing.

This will either be garbage with no passing, or garbage with stupid wrecks.

I've seen a lot of praise for that race. I disagree. There was more passing, but it was fucking stupid. And I can't remember the last time I saw cars look that slow on a racetrack. It was like watching family friendly 25mph go karts putter along down the backstretch.

"Restricted Open Engine"

What? Isn't that an oxymoron?

Or is that a photoshop?

But you do realize that if the cars are modified in the way everyone of us (including me) wants, ie. with raised ride height, no splitter/side skirts and tiny spoiler, then they would look even slower than that?

Personally, I've always felt good racing is more important than amazing speeds.

Cars that dance around in the turns from not having enough grip look fast and exciting even if they aren't as fast as the ones that are glued to the ground. Plus I'm okay with the cars being slow in the corners, as long as they have enough power to make them difficult to drive and create opportunities for mistakes getting onto the throttle and mistakes on getting onto the brakes. On the other hand, way too much drag and way too little horsepower making the car go fast in the turns but slow on the straights... yuck.

I got Austin Dillon in the Random Fantasy Game. At least he's won a plate race and has won a race in Charlotte in the last 12 months.

The racing at Charlotte has been terrible for many years. At least this could be terrible in a different way.
